I live in the San Bernardino Mountains/National Forest, where the Line Fire is, and temperatures have definitely dropped. From highs around 90 to highs in the low 70s.

@@bradroberts2841 hm I’m in the San Joaquin Valley and it barely dropped to 70s today. It’s been a horrid hot summer, I wonder if the first causes cooling? Maybe the smoke blocks out sun?

@tianna1116 Temperatures in mountains have dropped considerably, and we even had some fog and light rain overnight. Highs are forecast to be in the mid 50s and lows in the low to mid 40s. I should add that all evacuation orders related to the Line Fire have been lifted. As to your question, the smoke definitely has some effect on temperatures, but the dramatic drops are the result of a low pressure system moving through the area.

They need to allow more logging back into california. During the Clinton years, they greatly reduced the logging to save the spotted owls. The logging companies log in strips to reproduce the spread of wildfires. That's a good thing.

Way back the loggers used to be able to take the dead trees and underbrush . The green initiatives in CA. Have restricted the loggers and now all the dead brush remains and the fires have much more fuel than they used to

Summers have always been warm in southern California. There have been more fires now. The fire locations were a beautiful area. There should be a sprinkler system installed that would turn on when a fire ignites. Mountain ski resort has demonstrated this.
