This is great! Gameplay accurate asf on the jet-surfing 🤣🤣🤣 we all went through it. I remember a few terrible nosedives with the wind-glider too. Wish I could be playing right now 😣

strange, the DOS version has what looks to be almost twice the resolution of the SNES version, but many things look better on the SNES. but of course some dont, but the SNES soundtrack is also one of the best ive ever heard for any game of those times. but strangely both versions of this game somehow seem equal in worthiness despite their differences... im actually not sure which i like more. i want to say DOS, but then that SNES soundtrack kicks in, and its totally killer...

Never knew there was a California Games II - had the original on NES and thought it was fun!

The first one was quite fun. The only difference was that I played the original on the Commodore 64 (the game was originally written on the Commodore 64).
@bigjplay Жыл бұрын
@@scottythegreat1 didn’t know that! I may have to try and get an emulator and check that one out! It’s still a fun game 🤘

@@bigjplay The main advantage over the NES is the sound design on the C64. The music is slightly better (especially the Half Pipe music), but the sound effects are more prominent. Chris Grigg is an amazing sound engineer.

I don't know about you guys, but the music here is sadly very wrongly instrumented. Plus I feel like there are other bits that could've been done better as well.

the music sucks like this game

@@wrathovgod5099 T R U E. Seriously, I could definitely see the underrated GEMS Sound Driver doing this music much better than how it sounds here.

The problem is this game was first released on DOS. Historically the best chip tune music in the 1980s and 1990s came from the system of origin. In this case, California Games II was originally written on a DOS computer. Not only that, but Chris Grigg was the original composer for this game. Chris Grigg is better known for sound engineering/programming than he was for composing. Not only that, but Chris Grigg was not involved in this port, he left Epyx in 1991.
