Moved here in 2012 from the Bay Area. I’m seeing all of the growth & it amazes me as I walk through the neighborhood all of the homes, apartments, stores, gas stations & businesses that are being built right before my eyes. Do you know what they are building in the field by the new police station in River island? & the fields across the street next to the soccer field? Thank God I got in before homes prices went up.

Happy to have you in Lathrop! Yes, there's certainly a lot of growth going on now and well into the future....in front of the Police Department they are building a park, and next to that an apartment complex. Next to the soccer field they are building a Town Center where there will be a football stadium, hotel, grocery store, and a downtown at the center of it all....

Hey Paul, Just met you outside of Target. My wife and I just moved here from the bay. Proud Stanford alumni, we had no idea about the Leland Stanford connection to this city. Fascinating! Keep up the great work.

That Mossdale bridge was technically the last link in the Transcontienetal Railroad - it was not with the golden spike in Promontory Utah - the bridge opened several months later. The current bridge is the 3rd iteration, in place since the early 1940s.

I don't remember exactly what year it was, but I remember one year back in the 90's while working in Tracy, where it was all under water...literally. Lathrop, Banta, Manteca and other nearby cities and towns were all under water due to a levee break. So consider that if you're thinking about living in that vicinity.

The year was 1997, however not "all" was under water. The good majority of Lathrop West of the San Joaquin River was under water, however keep in mind this was before the levees surrounding the River Islands was built to where it is today. Today, River Islands has levees built to withstand a 200-year flood event, something that was Not the case in 1997. What did they do? They literally built a new levee adjacent to the existing one, and backfilled between the two. This is what is referred to as "super levees". So, keep that in mind.

My classmate Jerry jumped in that water, was overwhelmed with the current which pulled him in...they found his body the next day. 1984ish.
