-I was born and raised in California (I’ve since left). I used to be a poll worker, and Californian needs a purge of its voter registration. I’ve seen cheating first hand. A group of non-English speaking Hispanics coming to the poll with a “representative” to have her group vote provisionally because none of them were registered to the station. Happened every election. When I asked what happened to those ballots, I was “no longer needed”, at the station. This was over 20 years ago. I’m sure nothing has changed.

Honestly, though California really isn’t a wake up call, this was all pretty much expected. New Jersey and New York are wake up calls. Republicans have performed in those counties in California before. If Donald Trump had flipped Saratoga and Rensselaer counties in New York nobody would be paying attention, the reason his support there is so significant is because he significantly expanded his support in New York City, Long Island and Rockland while increasing margins in rural counties upstate. The same is true in New Jersey where much of the states populous counties shifted right. That’s significant, but unfortunately for California Republicans, the results on the West Coast aren’t that great or surprising at all
