This might be 1st time for this space shuttle be assembled outside of nasa but space shuttle enterprise was stacked in Vandenberg in 1980s when the space shuttles were to be launched there in 1980s for DOD missions only..enterprise was just a demo shuttle to see if Vandenberg facilities were perfect fit..unfortunately the exhaust vents were considered dangerous..after challenger accident Vandenberg was quickly mothballed launching space shuttles..enterprise never was made space flight ready.

Why is Endeavour spelled in old English and not spelled in modern English, eg. Endeavor. After all, this Shuttle is an American product and its name should reflect the modern spelling of the word as that is the standard way of spelling since it has been adopted by our nation of America. One of the attributes of progress is to spend less time doing something, so having one less letter to tap on the keyboard saves time. There are many other words in the old English language that would be applicable such as colour, flavour, programme etc. ( color, flavor, program ) The English language is an evolving language with new words being introduced, so hopefully the modern way of spelling some old words will change throughout the world.

Because it is named after the HMS Endeavour, an old vessel that was the first ship to ever reach New Zealand. Since its named after a vessel it wouldn’t make sense to change the spelling. All 5 orbiters were named after exploration vessels.

Thanks for your reply. I find it strange that the British were not involved with the Shuttle program, yet one of the Shuttles was named after a historic British ship belonging to a foreign island nation. If the historic ship had arrived on an American shore instead of a New Zealand shore, then I can understand a connection with the spelling of the current name. @@Amrepdude499
