I'm getting great pollination results with the same variety of peppers just using tapping. I think there are too many flowers (!) to bother with pollinating them individually and good old "tickling" is working well.

Hi, I love your pepper harvest. I’m getting ready to buy an aero garden and deciding between the harvest and bounty basic models. Did you ever trim the roots? I had harvest model before and have two tower gardens, just don’t have enough space at home to set a big tower right now.

Awesome!! Would you be able to grow one cherry tomatoe plant & one bell pepper plant at the same time in a Harvest XL?
@aerogardenexperiments Жыл бұрын
Yes, that should be totally possible. Just pick the varieties that stay at same height or prune the pepper plant aggressively to maintain same height as tomato plants. For example, Tiny Tim cherry tomatoes and Pot-a-Peño jalapeno peppers stay nearly at same height and go very well together.

Your peppers are beautiful thank you for the video. I have several questions for you. First one is you mentioned in the beginning that you would use the AeroGarden nutrients. Did you use any Cal mag or any other additives to the nutrients? Second you didn't talk about pruning the plants after the initial pruning of some of the lower leaves. Did you ever trim back the plants as they got too tall or too bushy? Third every time you showed the day count the water level was either medium or low. Do you always run your water level so low? If so is this something that is beneficial for the plants? I always try to keep mine topped off and never let them get down to medium for long. Lastly do you know how this particular variety of peppers does compared to the AeroGarden bell peppers? Thanks!!!
@aerogardenexperiments Жыл бұрын
Sorry that I didn't clarify these details in the video. I will make the videos more infomative going forward. Here are my answers: 1. No cal-mag or any other suppliments. Just the Aerogarden nutrients. I started with recommended dosage. As the plants started drinking up a lot of water and emptying the bowl frequently, I added 3-4ml of nutrition with every refill. 2. Plants stopped growing tall after reachng to ~20 inches so I never had to prune the plants to keep them short. However, they were getting bushy with huge leaves so I removed a few leaves time to time to avoid overcrowding. 3. Most of the times, I will let the plants bring the water level to very low. This is a slight alternative to changing the water frequently. I don't want to disturb the plants especially when they are at fruiting stage. By the way, I don't top off the water except when I add nutrition. When I add the nutrition during regular feeding cycle (i.e. every 14 days), I will make sure to top up the water. 4. I don't know about Aerogarden's bell peppers as I haven't tried them yet. However, California Wonder variety is the fastest growting bell pepper variety.

Thanks for answering the questions! I had these questions also. 😊

Hi. What kind of cord is that holding the plants up? First feeding, after seedling, how much nutrients did you add? And then u feed every 14 days?
@aerogardenexperiments3 ай бұрын
That was just a random cable I used temporarily. Regarding feeding, I fed the recommended dosage every 14 since the germination. Once the plants became massive and produced peppers, I added an additional 3-4 ml of nutrients between the standard feeding cycles, mostly when I refilled the bowl with water.
How do you pollinate them exactly? I saw you use the toothbrush, but what did you put on it? And how come you didn't have to pollinate the peas?
@aerogardenexperiments8 ай бұрын
I just tap the flowers on their back side. Please check this kzbin.infolg4fC956qYE Pea flowers can take care of themselves as they open up. Same with any bean flowers as well. Most peppers and tomatoes are also take care of pollination themselves as they open up but a little help with hand pollination will always make it guaranteed.

How many hours of light for peppers?
@aerogardenexperiments8 ай бұрын
Bounty has Pepper garden which keep the lights on for 15 hours and I just stick with it. 15-16 hours per day is good for peppers.

Do you increase the amount of nutrition you use as the plants get bigger?
@aerogardenexperiments Жыл бұрын
Once the plants started emptying the bowl frequently, I started adding 3-4 ml of nutrients every time when I refilled the water. I normally wait for the plants to take up the water all the way to the very bottom.

Can I grow cannabis and peppers together in the same aerogarden? What would happen, just competition for light and space?
@aerogardenexperiments3 ай бұрын
I am pretty sure it works. You may need to limit the number of plants to 2, 1 pepper, and 1 cannabis.

Do you have your aero garden in a room where you can control the temp? Like in the summer when I have to turn on the air do you shut the vent in the room?. Because I noticed the pepper plants don't like extreme temps or when you go from hot to cold. I don't have a designated room so they are exposed to the various temps. Once the jalapenos start growing after dropping many flows they grow fine. I'm growing cherry peppers now and they are finicky...
@aerogardenexperiments11 ай бұрын
Yeah, all of my gardens (except lettuce, spinach, and Cilantro) in living room where the temperatures are between 60 and 70 F. During summer, the temperatures go a little high for a month or so, but didn't cause any issues.

Off-topic, but have you figured out a way to grow potatoes in the Aerogarden?
@aerogardenexperiments Жыл бұрын
No. After thinking a lot about it, I don't feel like it's worth trying potatoes in hydroponics.
@equallywrong Жыл бұрын
@aerogardenexperiments I figure if it was at all possible, they would need to grow in the water reservoir. The problem is the amount of potatoes a plant will produce. The potatoes could possibly restrict the pump/water circulation. All this is just theory at this point. Would be a challenge because I know someone somewhere in some obscure laboratory is trying to figure it out also.

I have a bell pepper growing with my cherry tomatoes. The bell pepper leaves are ripping or something is eating them but I don’t see bugs or have issues with my tomatoes. Any advice?
@aerogardenexperiments11 ай бұрын
If you see the leaves are eaten up, I strongly believe the pest is somewhere around. I can't think of any disease that makes the leaves look like eaten up. Would you be able to post pictures or a short video in my Facebook group facebook.com/groups/704927617852846/?ref=share
