Californian 340 Duster "race car" towed by General Lee Charger NEW PROJECT CAR!

The day I go to my mail box and someone brings me a solid 70 Duster being towed on a car trailer by a 69 General Lee Dodge Charger, I will have a permanent smile plastered on my face. Great video fellas!

360 Dusters are cheap fun!! I used a Demon because it was there, bought it for $900 with some 2.02" J-heads, 310 solid Cam Dynamics cam and adjustable Isky rockers in the trunk. Put a way smaller 284 MoPar solid cam/lifters in a 360 with those heads and rockers and ran easy mid-12s with a 3.91 gear and a self-built 904 trans. Cheap and fun!!

It must need a new heater core because they have bypassed it. In Kansas heaters are a must have. I bet its freaking cold there right now. I like the hood scoop looks nice to me. But maybe Im a dork for thinking so but it looks cool to me and its well made. The Chevy direction is best. That car is very straight with a minimal amount of rust. I have grown a huge liking for Dusters over the years since my friend in high school had a 340 Demon with TRW pop up for more compression. Cars are pretty bad ass. Did I say the hood scoop is cool ? This is going to be a awesome project. Damn Go pros I hate them wouldnt own one. Damn go pros suck. Chris is an amazing mechanic and body guy. He is pretty damn cool. Hauls it with the General Lee LOL.

Welcome to the a body club 🙂 my son has a 73 this was our father son project built 340 revers pattern manual shift trans 391 in the rear car is fast you really should try a automatic manual shift I really think you would like it I've always been a 4 speed guy but after we built his I did the same in my 73 440 charger love it I say it's shifts so much faster

So Friedberger took a duster like this with his pal... puts a 383 in it then has it bored to a 440 small block.... Lays a skid mark from here to Pluto! Worth some thought lol Love to see something like that on this Duster. Should be a fun build eh?

I got a 70 340 duster build coming up also the numbers matched motor is gone also but I found and got a 340 xhead engine to go in it look on your Kmember and see if it has the washer welded to it it’s below the crank pulley the factory put it on to signify heavy duty they only did that for 2 years anyway have fun with this I’ll keep watching to see this thing fire up

Ive always liked the Dusters. I worked with a guy that had a badass 70 340/"275hp" car. Theres no way they were only 275 hp. Lol. I'm a Chevrolet guy and it hurts to admit it, but Ive heard many old timers say those 340 Dusters were eatin up the 396 SS Chevelles. Lol

I'd paint it back original color. Put Jezebel's motor in it with big fenderwell headers since Jezebel is getting a hemi. Slotted mags. Late 70s street machine style.

That extra pipe in the trunk is the 4 corner gas tank system.... its a california car thing.... it has s vent in all 4 corners in the tank, then they go 4 into 1 inside that extra pipe in the trunk, then the gas tank vent tube runs into engine compartment next to fuel line..... i also have a 70 duster, i just put a new gas tank for a 73 duster, it has the simple 1 vent hose

It cold as heck right now about 29 degrees. My tomatoes finally froze I was still growing them yesterday. I know its cold in Kansas if its this cold here in southeast Oklahoma. I like the 340s and 360s they might be cheaper to make on parts price than a big block but if that is what your making then put a big block in it. Will it fit? Not very easy anyway. Chris and his cousin were pounding the hell out of a set of headers to get them to fit in a small mopar. It was black I cannot even remember what it was? Duster maybe? It was damn nice though shinny glossy black straight as an arrow man. I noticed those wheel tubs right away when you guys opened the trunk. Now that is a hot rod. LOL Ha ha you can fit some good sized slicks under that I guess. I Wonder if the rear end has been shortened for clearance???
