Hi. This is my first time planting. I added my soil to my three tier garden bed. I followed most of your guidance for growing tomatoes 🍅. I also have my dwarf sunflower 🌻 🥬 kale sweet pepper bush blue beans and lettuce. A lot of shade. Some sun. 🫂

We built two wooden raised beds. Bed 1- 5 peppers, 4 basil, 3 patty pan squash, pole beans, marigols, some purple spiller flowers. Bed 2- not yet planted, but you've given me great ideas.

Hi Shelly, you're gonna love playing in the garden - bet you can wait to dig in! To answer your question about a tomato and squash in a purple Smart Pots: a tomato will work great in a 10 gallon, but the purple mini raised bed is a bit to shallow for it a full sized tomato, but is perfect for a Tiny Tim tomato. Large squash such as zucchini or butternut will also be great in 10 gallon, plant smaller varieties such as scalloped squash in the purple mini. Hello Connie - peppers can be spaced very close together. In a wine barrel planter you could fit 3-4. Do make sure you install some type of support for them, though. Hello Francisco - glad you're enjoying the channel - so glad you're watching from Germany! Kale is so hardy, it will be just fine even if it gets shaded out a bit by the beans. The beans will be done producing and the kale will likely grow for years in this spot. Cukes can be planted quite close together, and can be thinned as they sprout if it looks too tight. Love it! The bush watermelon, can you only do 1 in that area. Ive read those only produce maybe 3 so since they are a compact can they be planted in xlarge grow bag?

Hi Angela - actually Sugar Baby isn't a bush watermelon, it's definitely a vining variety. You could do 2 if you were just planting watermelon on this trellis (no cucumbers) so they have enough space. And they do great in a Smart Pots, 10-20 gallon for 2-3 plants - you'll love it! Hello Sandie - we did it ourselves, with a lot of help from friends (and a backhoe operator to dig out the terraces! We were on a backyard makeover TV show 11 years ago, the terracing/stone walls were part of the design we received with the show. It was a lot of work, but so worth is, as before it was a weed filled hill. We are so thankful for the opportunities it gave us, as soon after we started our channel. Hello Yvonne - jalapenos are so tasty - nice mild heat. Could be a fertilizing issue - containers need feeding every 7-10 days for best production. Also, make sure your container is the right size, 5 gallon for 1 plant, 10 gallon for 2-3 plants. The roots need room to grow and produce. Hello Fatti - since we get zero rain here in So Cal, I've found that this is a good amount of drip lines to keep the soil moisture where it needs to be for the plants. Right now it's set to go off every 4 days for 30 minutes, I adjust the timer in the hot season to go off more often. Mulch is absolutely a must for me in the summer, saves so much water.
