This one doesnt have as much gain as the mellow drive gets, but it is a pretty good as an overdrive

It does! I like to see it as a 'better tubescreamer'. It does everything the ts does, but with more of it. More gain, more volume, more eq controls. It's a little bit more complicated to set, thus not as plug and play as a ts, but it's so much more versatile.
