For everyone doubting if rings are effective look at any gymnasts. The physique and monster arms they have come from ring work. The only weights they use are mostly dumbells and a plate maybe at certain times.. But mostly ring work. Rings will recruit so many more stabilizer muscles that you never thought you had. I just started ring work and it is way more intense. By the 3rd or 4th set it's brutal and I can barely do 10 sets at 15 reps. By set 5 I can barely squeeze out 15 and there are still 5 more sets to go!! On the floor I can do 20 reps for 20 sets no problem. Rings are no joke.

coordination, stability, mobility, all abilities rings can develop better than the bar. they are tough, they also train better the pronator and supinated muscles around the arms
@ConradoNiehues4 жыл бұрын
For me it's the best training tool available. Much more intense than bars and lots of movements that we can do on them. Right now i'm working on strict ring muscle ups, training all the phases to get this move. And become much stronger in the journey.

Sorry for the brevity of this comment, but the stabilization aspect of Rings not only increases the Time, but ALSO the Tension aspect of Time-Under-Tension. Tension and weight are often mistaken as one in the same. Essentially, this is why Ring exercises are often much more difficult.

I got some rings during quarantine and they stepped up my calisthenics game, there is more chest activation in dips, pullups get an increase in grip strength,combined with paralletes you get a complete training stimulus. I personally like dips as they are easier on the shoulder and let you go deeper for chest activation. Awesome info.

You're kind of a beginner? LIAR! I'm just kidding. I have to admire your humility. Massive respect. Morals aside, I LOVE gymnastic rings. I would argue that gymnastic rings are all you need for serious upper body training. Even the most basic exercises like push-ups and bodyweight rows (my personal favorite movement pairing) immediately become quite difficult even for experienced trainees. It's the one and only training tool I will never ever leave my home without. I don't know if you watch or have ever watched Dragon Ball Z but using gymnastic rings make me feel like I'm training to become a Super Saiyan.

Just did my first push and pull workouts on the rings. Crazy how much stabilization is required for dips. I could only do 10. Very humbling but I feel like all that firing from your prime movers and forearms for stabilizing your mass will lead to strength gains

@@OldSchoolCalisthenics you grab a deck of cards and pull one out whatever number it says thats how many pushups you do, you rest about 5 seconds then pull another card out until you get through the entire deck. Face cards are 10, Aces can be 11, or 15. A football player named Ray Lewis did this.

I’ve a question: is it correct to say that rings help build more muscle mass than bars? Obv with proper nutrition 💪🏾
@OldSchoolCalisthenics3 жыл бұрын
not quite. in theory, bar could be better at destroying the muscle fibers but rings employ more muscle fibers, so in a way i guess we should train both,
@malgentocilla78293 жыл бұрын
Aren't rings better because you need to use more muscle for stability thus you train more muscle. And what if you compare two people, one who does pullup bar workouts, and one who does ring workouts, and after for example 3 months you let those people switch from pullup to rings and vice versa. Who would be stronger then, the one who did rings for 3 months, or the one who did pullup bar for 3 months
@OldSchoolCalisthenics3 жыл бұрын
interesting thing is that almost no one did only one for a few months straight. theoretically, rings get you stronger because it recruits more fibers, and thus, it trains balance and coordination too. for muscle definition, the bar has to be better because you won't need to stabilize it
@iliveinsideyourhouse39433 жыл бұрын
@@OldSchoolCalisthenics Isn't the time under tension of the rings or the stabilization is good for muscle definition?

@iliveinsideyourhouse39433 жыл бұрын
@@OldSchoolCalisthenics I just done high volume session with rings. From my assumption and experience, the stabilization can be an issue but with times, you can balance the rings just like you did with fixed bar and fatigued the pecs and tricep muscles entirely rather than the stability muscles.
@Teramydog2 жыл бұрын
rings are superior - THEY recruit the stabilizers that the bars do not and develop body control not achievable on bars

Can you change bars with rings? Example if used rings for mesocycles and did variations. Now switching to rings and Then when get back to bar Will bar have Improve or stayed the same because with rings you cant pull/train as high load as with bar? In other words should you switch out bar work for rings wefhred pullups?
@OldSchoolCalisthenics2 жыл бұрын
oh, yes, definitely. training with rings will make you better for the bar as well. you won't feel weaker for sure. I prefer training both so I guess is a preference rather than which one is best. Some do only ring work because is more ergonomic than installing a pull-up bar and dip station, you know? Then they discover that it successfully replaces the bar.

Great video ! Do you recommend training til failure or do you always leave 1-2 reps in store at the end of a set of strengh training or hypertrophy training ?
@OldSchoolCalisthenics4 жыл бұрын
Well, at the beginning I always have more strength left for more reps. However, I usually do sets of 10 pull, 20 push, 15 dips and 40 squats. Now, I can do more but I now that with a relatively short break, in a few sets, I am going to feel the pump and hard work so my rep interval will soon be near to failure. Somewhere at the middle of my training, I can still boost the same reps but a lot harder. Then as I get closer to the finish, I break the set and that means, I do more reps than I can possibly do without stopping. So it is a training to failure, kind of, but not since the beginning of my workout. For me, strength or hypertrophy comes as one. I rarely do just one because I am not interested into getting maximum strong at my fullest ability ever, neither being extremely endurable for high-reps. So I go in the sweet spot where I train for hypertrophy and strength and endurance. Check out my other videos on the same topic, brother!
