This is game that I was curious, but one of the titles I wasn't going to buy. But spotted it "free" on MS Gamepass and decided to give it ago and gotta say I really enjoyed the game. There's only couple action relating things I disliked and the RPG elements just felt lacking and to me, they didn't feel like they were adding anything to game. Solid title anyway and I'm glad I tried it and to note: Completed the game fully.

As always great review. I will check this game myself. You should try The Council. It's also narrative driven game with big variety of choices, interesting skil checks and focused mainly on characters. Main theme is occultism so atmosphere is quite dark. In my opinion game has great story and characters but suffers from backtracking. Unfortunately it didn't received attention of the public.

I played The Council a couple of years ago. Really good game. A very pleasant surprise as I don't usually play detective games. It's worth a look for sure.

Great review as always ! I played this game in one sitting almost as you said it is pretty short, and the tension from the first painting to the museum is so damn great!. I fealt fear and everything eles you want from an H.P Lovecraft setting...buuuut after that well its just fell apart in that aspect, but still a good story =)

I was Like 666. Given the game, I’ll Take that as a positive. I really liked this game. I’m a Lovecraft reader and Call of Cthulhu RPG player and found a LOT to appreciate here.

You can add points to Occ and Med in the beginning of the game (the phone call). I usually level both to Lvl 2

I played through the first few levels... The story style - Level your skills/Pick your own adventure was actually pretty enjoyable. Then I hit the asylum - stealth stealth stealth After grinding through that I got another 10 mins of story - before ... Stealth.. in a very annoying boss segment.. After failing miserably (I thought I had done it tbh but I had the wrong item) I hit my quit point and never regretted it

The amazing environments and atmosphere are what make Call of Cthulhu worth playing imo. The story was fine, not sure I completely understood it though.

This game started out so good, they should have just kept pushing the intrigue and horror. They just destroyed the game mid- late game.

You might want to just have a link pop up on the screen when your talking about what goes into 100% games, although there would be fewer channels clicks overall it would be smoother and might help the starting pacing of the videos.

Have you ever played Disco Elysium ? The atmosphere of it reminds me of this game. If you haven't, highly recommended.

I don't know. DE for me didn't have any "Lovecraftian" feel. It just felt bit bit darker than average adventure game. Not to mention that it had kinda cheerful places like that diner. Call of Cthulhu is having that particular kinda dark omen atmosphere from the beginning to the end.

This is disappointing to hear. I was kinda hoping CoC was gonna be good. Please have a look at Stygian; More Combat, 2.5D not Isometric. It's still a quickish game... quick turn around.

If the guy is looking for an actual rpg and not a story game than it would def disappoint. Let's be honest even as a story game its about average.
