In my opinion, this scene hits harder than the one in the remastered one. That red tint makes it incredibly unnerving, you are basically alone from the beginning to end, increasing the dread, and I think the sound being lower definition adds to the experience. The remastered one is also great, but this one is pretty chilling.

I think they were aiming for two different things In the original you see everybody already dead, you're the only one left, and the red tint indicates you're next. Meanwhile in the remaster you see everyone you fought with slowly dying, you aren't alone but there's nothing you can do to help, until they all die and again, you're the only one remaining. It's just two ways to look at it, they're both good.

I think this version has infinitely more impact than the remastered version. You being only one left from the get go puts your hopes at survival down several levels, the tint makes it much more unnerving vs the remaster making it look like (if you remove the cloud) that it was only hit by an air strike, overall bigger sense of dread

My own alternate ending:Instead of dying Jackson goes to the building and finds Lt.Vasquez who then says theres might be a radiation equipment wich can help them later. Then they find body of Lt.Volker who is already dying but they still pick him up and they found bandages to cover Volkers wounds. They find the radiation equipment and also a safe place. They somehow found a spot to call for a emergency pick up. And then they wait. And after 2 hours they were taken back to the base. At least Sheperd won't be mad because he has 3 men who survived that nuceral explosion.

It’s still daytime in the OG if you remove the red tint effect, and it doesn’t get completely dark after a nuke, the remaster is more what the aftermath of nuke would look like in real life.

@@christianloubardias6375 I mean, first of all, he got critically injured from the impact of the helicopter crashing along with Vasquez and the other marines that were on the chopper with him on the way out of Basrah. Secondly, he was also exposed to lethal amounts of radiation from the nuke that Al-Asad detonated so that was also a contributing factor. Thirdly, the helicopter that he was in was damaged and there was a huge gap between the cockpit and the rest of the helicopter as well as the back still being open so there would still have been a good amount of radiation leaking through which would have still affected Jackson and would've likely still resulted in his demise. In conclusion, regardless of what could've happened, Jackson perishes here.
