Welcome to Nostalgia Review, the flagship retrospective series for the Jwlar channel, produced by James Lewis.

A series played by an estimated 300 million people worldwide, and a cornerstone of gaming culture.
And for a lot of us, it all began with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

I was a very active cod 4 reflex edition Wii player. Most of cod 4 was ported to the Nintendo Wii and the servers shut down a little while ago. Great video on a great game. Ps this deserves way more views

Honestly, there have been times I've played shooters and gotten so immersed in it all. That tension and relief element is real. But nothing at all, destroys that immersion quite like dying repeatedly during the climax missions when everything is at its best. I've had those immersion blue balls moments where I've gone from super hyped in the story and action, to dying once and thinking "what the fuck?" And it's the second death that completely ruins it for me. The dopamine drip is ripped out and the feeling of rage kicks in. Not gamer rage that you've died a bunch of times, the rage that comes with having your dopamine stopped before completion. Nothing makes me go from "oh hell yeah this is awesome!" To "fuck this piece of shit game, I'm not interested anymore." Quite like having that crucial moment ruined. And it's almost always followed by a 6 month to 1 year+ long break from the game

I dont know why Infinity War thought they had told every story of WW2 already, when they STILL haven't set so much as a single CoD mission in Yugoslavia. You could have a campaign where you play as a Yugoslav soldier fighting against the Axis invasion in 1941, then you'd play as a Chetnik fighting against the German occupiers and the Croatian Ustase collaborators, then you'd defect to the Partisans once you see the Chetniks' brutal ethnic cleansing policies and frequent collaborations with the Germans and the Ustase. You could make a whole game about that, but no just pretend that the only countries in the world are America, France, the UK, Germany, Italy, and the USSR.

37:14 I usually explain these inconsistencies with the difficulty vs the story with the thought that a highly trained special forces operative would probably have better tactics than me. I am, after all, just some random player with no military background. A real person trained for this situation would probably handle it a lot better, with or without magic regenerative healing abilities.
