Back then ppl were complaining that MW3 had too many "Open Missions" where the gameplay is just one big fucking Warzone combat map. Looking at this in BO6, this is clearly an Open Mission but it doesnt feel like it. I think they improved the formula about how an Open Mission should be without being another "Warzone combat map".

I think the main element of what makes Call of Duty an actual 'Call of Duty' is the aspect of linear storytelling and all the chaos going around your eyes and ears in each mission. With enough war ambience and environment, I think they stimulate the war atmosphere so well. It's hard to get that old 'Call of Duty' vibe without those constant chaos. I didn't say that it's bad though that it has open mission like this, it's great but perhaps they should have added more elements to feel like we're in a middle of the war.

Exactly. Hunting Season and Emergence felt like regular missions while remaining Open Combat in nature like MWIII was. Both also had story well embedded in them, which MWIII lacked.
