I took a look at like the first minute and thought to myself "looks good, interesting concept, fun posibilities... so why the fuck dont they just drop the Call of Duty from the title and give us a new game series based on the future?" Seriously, they seem to like future tech so much, and have so much experiance in FPS's plus decent reputation, so if they said "Yeah, Call of Duty had a good run but we want to try something new" I think they could genuinely cause exitement in the gaming comunity.

ACG I dont know, I feel that the CoD titles do tend to have some bagadge behind them in terms of expectations, as well as half the gaming comunity going "ugh, another one?", as well as in terms of creativity. As long as its a CoD game, there are certain standarts that have to be met, and with all the creative fun you can have with future weaponry, space, and so on, trying to make something fresh while still feeling like CoD can be limiting. I guess the debate is weather you should stick with the tried and true, or take a risk and do something new and fresh. I mean take a look at the Halo series and how people reacted to the changes between the original 3 games and the new ones.

I never really trust youtubers now. It's not that they're wrong, it's just that they seem to lean more likely towards the bandwagon for more views. Like, how most CoD youtubers say they hate the game from the beta (for stupid reasons. Also, everybody was hating on the beta), then go on doing a 4+ hour live stream on the game because it's the biggest thing out right now. ACG is one of the few i trust no matter what, though.

It's still not very much like Halo though. I give this game props for finally doing something very different with space flight and opening the campaign map up. Still though COD games have always been super tightly scripted, everything in the game is funneling you to do one way and at a certain pace. Halo games have been more about putting you in an open space with a few different routes and having you work your way through them at a pretty sedate pace

I would rate it 8. It's nothing revolutionary but it's still fun. It's not that I don't like the multiplayer. It plays well and isn't buggy but it's just that it is no different from last year's game. and the year before that and the year before that and so on. I don't get the childish hatred towards CoD. It's not a bad game. Aliens Colonial Marines is a BAD game. The problem with CoD is the formula doesn't change so I am not interested in playing the same thing over and over. Once the campaign is done after 6 hours it's multiplayer which as I say, just isn't inspiring anymore

thank god a review that does this game justice.. the campaign was easily one of the best in the franchise, i never enjoyed the kill box multiplayer since advanced warfare, but the campaign deserves way more praise than i think it has gotten. this is an old review but i never watched it as i had the game and played it already, but the media / toxic internet community slammed this game without ever touching it. and sure it was justified by the 80$ edition which was the only way to get COD 4 remastered but if you think about it, it's well worth it. had they'd sold it seperately i would think theyd sell Infinite warfare for 60 and cod 4 for 40 so honestly it was a pretty damn good deal. sad how the internet just freaks out..

Well first. Let me say thanks and congratulate you. I think you are the first person to understand what I was saying when I responded. I am dead set against paid for game reviews. Its a product and the truth needs to be known. But here is the thing. I am SURE you liked a game no one liked. I have reviewed 250+ titles. There is BOUND to be a time when we all don't line but. Lol, I feel the same man. I've been playing COD since the first one, and even through its ups and downs I still find some fun in some of them. Minus Ghosts, like you said, XD.Actually maybe even Ghost even though its my least favorite out of every game in the franchise. I think some people get so caught up in trying to fit in with majority opinion that they become incapable of really forming a proper opinion of their own about a game. Definitely give the campaign a shot even though I prefer BO3's MP over IW's. Wasn't really feeling what I played in the beta.

I'm glad to see that they've put more emphasis on the single-player campaign. However, I'm not much into the gameplay loop of "follow a linear hallway comprised of set-pieces and scripted events until the end." Is that much of a problem compared to previous entries in the series, like Black Ops 1 for instance? Seeing the mission map hints that it's much more free-form now.

You can pick your missions but the missions themselves are fairly linear. Though I wouldn't say it's a bad form of linear, less narrow halways and more big rooms with 1 entrance and 1 exit. So you come in, have a big shootout where you have a lot of freedom about how you want to approach it, where you want to take cover, what routes to take when flanking etc but when you're done with that there's only 1 way to proceed with the level. Kinda like having multiple short open levels connected into 1 big level. The linearity is closer to Half Life than it is to a corridor shooter.

Well they do have three different studios taking turns so they are technically on 3 year dev cycles. I think they're in a tricky situation though where, like in this game's case the campaign is different but really good, but a bunch of people threw up their arms yelling "This is not the CoD we want". So people want CoD to be different and stop being a generic shooter but when it does they get angry about it. I think that's why Black Ops 3 was so well received is because it mixed them both together to please everyone. However I hope they keep going this route, I despised Ghosts and AW was nothing special but this...damn if they expand on this and put in romance it could be the FPS equivalent of Mass Effect. It's already got the same vibes.

I'm loving the game. The futuristic setting is so much more bearable with it being set in space. I'm heavily bored of robots, drones, and exoskeletal movement. But throw me through the solar system with the same mechanics, and all of a sudden it feels like a different game. Thanks for the honest, unbiased, non-hate bandwagon review. I'm having a ton of fun playing it, but it taints the image of the game with all these hardcore "lol battlefield 1 is better, youre trash for liking this game" comments from everyone, who, for some reason are still playing the game anyways.

I just can't justify buying these games new anymore, and even when I did, I never played them enough to justify the purchase (I've still never prestiged in any CoD) - I played the crap out of CoD1 but since CoD4MW and the current multiplayer style that they have, I just don't play them enough. I don't mind the campaigns when I can get a used console copy, but the PC versions never have a deep enough discount. I did get Ghosts a little while ago on massive clearance for like $7 CADat Walmart, but that was a one-off, and as far as I can tell the cheapest it has ever been on Steam is $21 USD (even the 10+ year old CoD games never go below 50% off or about $12 CDN). That's probably the most annoying thing about the franchise, is they don't give people a way to try out the older games cheaply and just rely on the huge existing fanbase that buys the new games at full price every fall to keep them going, they have to try to make bank on the years-old titles. I'll probably get Advanced Warfare used on PS4 for about $10 sometime soon, so it'll probably be a couple years before I get this one too.

Learned to Crawl I've played, I believe, every Call of Duty to date except for 1's "United Offensive" expansion and the recent Infinite Warfare. A surprise IW is apparently great. I only found BO3 to be okay and Advanced Warfare more fun than BO3 in a "mindless destruction" kind of way.

I feel like it was actually a rather generic science fiction story. Great individual moments, but overall, it's your typical arc for a Space Opera plot. It's like Star Wars, except the Rebellion is the evil faction. Very little time to inspire the "we must rebel" attitude of the SDF, because the UNSA has been there constantly and don't seem that corrupt or controlling. No questionable moments from the UNSA during the plot of the game (and I mean really, you couldn't have come up with a name that's even slightly different from the UNSC of Halo), and they're pretty much the typical good guys with no flaws in the main characters on active duty. TL;DR I'd like more morally gray factions in games. Or if they are evil, at least justify their views somewhat more than what they did with the SDF. If they buff the salvage gain per match, I can see the Supply Drop system working, but it falls flat as of launch. Wall running is so broken that you can hop onto a wall sideways and run over 50 meters forward with no momentum, which should be physically impossible on half the planetside maps. And seeing the streamers use the exact same SMG on every stream I watch for shits and giggles is annoying too. Not that it's not fun for some people, but variety is key, and it reminds me of the Clever Dragon and Matador 64/1000 Yard Stare thing from Destiny. ------ Other than this, I'd agree with the rest of what you said. It's a fair judgement call on almost everything.

Great review and the game turned out much better then people would have thought. It got so much hate when it was first announced. Mostly from trolls or haters. I've sat down with this, battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2. They all offer something different and they are all worthy games to buy. Personally Titanfall 2 is my favourite as it's so much fun to play. They its COD as the story is amazing so far. Plus it has the most depth in terms of content. I've managed to get the legacy edition from Argos for £39.99 (BP). Great campaign, excellent zombie mode and a multiplayer (yes maybe the weakest point but still certainly not terrible). Overall package it's up there for sure. Then lastly it's battlefield 1. I love how it's different to the others, sound is incredible and having tanks, planes in multiplayer makes it feel like a larger scale (although you can't beat a titan). But I do get bored easily by the story, doesn't grip me and the multiplayer isn't as fun, feels drained sometimes and I get bored playing for over 30 minutes. The main point is, that I am a neutral and it's great with have three big FPS come at once and there is finally a game for everyone. Only disappointment, if they had released at a couple months apart, I would have enjoyed each one, had more time for each game and appreciated that bit more.

yinzr Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII are two of my favorite games ever, and they play like 20 year old games... cuz they are. Too bad people like you will never be able to enjoy them though, it's kinda sad really. This is the first COD game I've bought since MW2, simply due to the fact that I'm not a multiplayer gamer. ACG's not lying when he says the campaign is great. The campaign alone is worth the asking price. Absolutely exhilarating.
