well, it was foreshadowing pauls death, when red was dreaming and hunting, he was old, yet paul didnt age, which hinted that he died.

I think the dream sequence has some subtle foreshadowing of Paul's death. When Red is hunting with Paul after returning to Texas in his dream, notice that Paul, minus the blood splatters, looks EXACTLY the same as he did after he stabbed the wolf attacking him and he put his hat back on. That was the last Red saw of him before he died, and that would be the Paul with that very same look that would appear in his dream.

It was foreshadowing Paul's death. He didn't age at all so Red was 100% dreaming.

That final shot, with Red shooting the nazi to save Zussman, mirrors how Red failed to shoot the wolf and save Paul. Nazi symbology always had them tied closely to wolves. So Red shot one wolf to save his brother by choice, as a way to atone for failing to shoot another to save his blood brother.

I believe Paul died when Daniels at the end stands at Paul's grave you see his death was in 1938 meaning that Daniel was not a kid when the wolf attack happened it's just how he imagined himself because he would be like 15-16 during the War.

VikkzedHD he was just imagining life if he made all those choices before. If Paul was alive, if he made it home without Zussman. It’s a great moment really, in the sense in the scenario his brother was alive, it wasn’t enough to him and he wanted Zussman to be rescued more than the life he imagined
