I love this.. well done.. I have to say that RF4 is my top pick for realistic fishing. But one thing you might want to point out that have premium too early in the game can def leave you unprepared for the fast leveling and new water bodies to unlock as you may still be struggling with the old gear in which also premium gives you no advantage in making more money then non premium members. So that might want to take into account.

I have heard of some really stupid ban reasons people have gotten in that game. Basically, good mechanics, bad moderation. By the way, most bans given on that game are based on weight. You have to fish for that amount of weight by hand and pay all of that up in a prison pond to get unbanned.

Excellent and fair comparison! RF4 does have quite a few Asian fish species in it, and also the migratory pacific fish like Sockeye, Chinook, Chum salmon and Dolly Varden. I heard somewhere that they are looking to create maps based on locations outside of Russia in the future. I just find the big fish far more rewarding to catch in RF4 than FP, they are few and far between so its an event when you get one. It just a more challenging but long term game, notably as the fish move locations and change bait and lure preferences, not spreadsheet fishing. FP is probably a better choice if you want to dip in and out of a fishing game and have some casual fun, which The Angler may also provide one day.

one thing I would really like fishing planet to add would undoubtedly be the use of conventional reels, lever drag reels for sharks and sturgeon throwing huge baits.

Amazing video, good points for all three games, i think if you like more of a worldwide stile of fishing you go for fishing planet, if you prefer european, specially bottom or feeder fishing you shoud go for rf4, and for the angler we will have to wait

now i know why you wanted a chat with MDawg :) one aspect of RF4 that I feel is quite important is the ability to send many items of gear/food to other players, ok you need to have premium and be of a certain level, but that's not a concern for the recipient. It does bond the community together though, being able to send a bit of booze to another player who has caught a really nice fish or basic rod kits to new players, or maybe handmade lures. It's handy for streamers as well, as it allows giveaways of gear. prem and gold are regularly discounted in sales, not that i'd recommend buying gold.

I think you know it but Rf4 is just a complete failure game since the devs only see money in their eyes + grind is awfull and you cant send stuff without paying gold to send tackle to other players 2000 hours playtime, Lvl 30+. Im saying its just too much of an grind

​@@icy2875 lol, total failure yeah, hardly anyone plays it and nobody streams it 🙂 Look, it caters for the long term player, years not months. Fish smart, use the community and you get it all for free in the long run, 2k hrs is nothing to some people, its far too much for others, that's the way it is. People make out that it's a huge grind, well it's only a grind if you're not enjoying the fishing along the way and if you see the game as some sort of race to some finishing post, which there simply isn't.

The huge advantage of fishing planet is that the option of buying anything in the shop is available all the time. It is more expensive, but it is available while we are on the water. Another advantage is the markers with the data of the fish catch. Another advantage is the change of time from morning to evening and indicators of fish activity.

I like call of the wild. They have plenty of species, plenty of different types of baits, rods, reels, everything. Open world, multiple open worlds. Activities, boars, vehicles, it feels good when you fight a monster for 10-20 minutes and catch it. Just wish there was an animation with a net or something when you reel your fish in. Love the game though. It lers you know in your handbook what type of bait each fish likes, there behavior, if they like deep or shallow rivers and lakes. If they are kore active at sun down or sun up. Angler just needs more species. It started with 15 it think. Then they added 13 more new species with the Norway dlc and Africa added 13 also so now there is at least 30 species. They added bottom fishing. I like it better than fishing planet. Haven't played Russian fishing 4 but it looks to he the best so far

They did add the 2nd map for Norway, which has 14 species, 12 of which are brand new. I'd only recommend getting it now, because it's on sale for 35% off and the DLC of the new map is FREE if you get it during the winter sale.

Not sure if you're aware of the optional casting method available in the settings > accessibility option, which is more then 'hold button down, meter fills, release' to cast. I still enjoy the game despite it's flaws for 2 main reasons. 1. I can fish anywhere, anytime, for anything. No pay walls or level requirements to grind through. 2. I hate the RNG style of other fishing games that just puts a bite on your pole when you meet minimum conditions. Seeing that bass surface in the lillypads that you can actually pick out, aim for and nab, is gem. To me it's just a better simulator, that needs a ton of secondary quality of life improvements... which I'm sure it will get.

It's good but fp is only on console and a lot easier I've spent like 200-300 hours in rf4 and only lvl like 22 with premiumn in most it's the best but fp is so much more accessible and it's availed on console and mobile

rf4 for fact is the grindisest game out there, also most expencive since in higher levels, good luck lvling up without premium, and good luck eaven getingg to the higher lvl, rf4 takes fish for same specie for hundreds of hours to whole new level. and while in fishing planet you will most likely catch something deecent and trophys are not hard to get, good luck geting a trophy in rf4 and eaven more GL geting a bluetag(basicaly unique in rf4) a lot of people have over 1000 hours in game without geting a single one. the amount of luck you sometimes in the game is insane.

the angler "time of day" in a game where the player cant choose the time of day to play. (that and the no chat there is biggest bummer in that game for me) the russian fishing , i, I ... I and I and i dont want ot care about hunger and rpg stats in a fishing game. ( i never played cause of that) 12 species well go fish IRL and a 16x16 and i dont think u can count more than that amount of species trolling is one the most requested thing in FP , i heard that because of that "fisherman" game we cant have that on FP , that create bait is cool though. float fishing on the angler is not good and the other methods there u can catch anything without trouble. its really fast to get the best gear in the angler tbh i have less than 10 hours and i have gear that can catch every diamnond in the game. FP gear can be expensive as well if u dont know what to buy and yes troling is a must in that game. yeah FP is grindy but well its a free game if u want. the angler its dont even have a chat cmon dude a chat its basic for a game that have a multiplayer focus. as for price , angler for the moment is good one for the moment , FP and RF well they are "free" games right u can waste money or not thats up to u but i had more fun wasting some money on FP to progress a little faster.

RF4 has the best mechanics but it is so slow to level up and raise skills. The same kind of thing goes for fishing planet to raise your level so you can use new lure or locations. It is just a grind catching the same kind of fish for hours and hours.

They should make a game that puts more focus on catfish. Like a detailed american based with bonus exotic locations catfishing type layout. It just seems like the American standard for catching a big fish....unless you fish for sturgeon i guess

RF 4 is still the best fishing game..!! I love Avalanche games, but The Angler is more of a Themepark. while Fishing planet is too much of a dumbed down version of RF4. The only drawback for RF4 is the time spent trying to save enough money in-game, to repair your gear or buy better gear. More often than not, your gear wears down before you can afford to fix it, forcing you to spend some RL cash to get back into it. This is due to the bite rate being significantly reduced (good for the realism, but bad for trying to make ends meet in the game), lowering the amount of money you can make by selling the fish you catch. All in all though, RF4 is still the leader in terms of realism and mechanics.

The issue I have with Fishing Planet is that it's far too easy to get to end level gear. I think it took me like a week or two to gear up with end tier stuff. Almost the exact opposite of RF4. While it's fun to go all over the world and drag monsters onto your boat almost right off the bat, I personally prefer at least some kind of grind to make it all worth it in the end. That's not to say that RF4 has it right either. The grind in its current state is way too long and hard for most people. Not so much the levelling part of it. I think that's perfectly paced. But the ability to raise funds progress to higher tier gear needs to be slackened just a little.. Both games are good in their own ways, but RF4 IMO, is just a little ahead in the game.

As an experienced and active russian fishing 4 player i can say that even tho i tried all these other fishing games with an open mind, i could never even compare them to rf4. Realistic feeling, great community and active admins and game updates! And remember, this is as much of a online game as you would want.

I love Fishing Planet but it can be grindy but i don't really care about it being grindy. The Angler is good but after finishing all the challenges i don't see a reason to play it as I'm a very high level and have so much money. With Russian Fishing i made a mistake when i first played it. When it asked what region i wanted to choose i clicked Russia and i didn't realise it was asking me what region in the world i lived for language so the game is in Russian and it can't be changed so i contacted the Devs to ask if they could reset it but they refused so i can't play it

Devs can easily change the region of your rf4 account. Or just make a new one, there are two clients, steam and standalone, use whichever you didn't use before. Don't let such a tiny obstable stop you from playing literally the only great fishing game out there.

A good overview Bo; thanks! Sadly, The Angler is nowhere near a “leading” fishing game. On SteamDB, it’s averaging under 600 players a day, and gets down as low as 175. The Fisher Online (made by one guy apparently) has more than that; even The Hunter Classic is about double. I think EW made this game for The Hunter COTW players and completely neglected to pay any realistic attention to players of other fishing games; they’re paying the price for that now. Hopefully they’ll turn it around, but it sounds like they’re more interested in their own “vision” rather than what most customers want. Personally I find it reasonably fun for an hour or less as something to relax with, but go elsewhere if I want to really virtual fish.

I love survival elements in games if it's not suoer true to life realistic like a game called "green hell" It is a gadd gamem I really think I'd have a better chance surviving irl. I like survival games like grounded and subnautica where I can control how fast I get hungry and thirsty and other survival options. I don't want certain games to he true to life realistic. Some games take out the fun

@@BoAngles Just to inform you. I just heard an small interview of their relations manager. And this addition to the game will allow them to expand further, especially in other places. Thats why when i tried all the games i stuck to RF4 and now will probably stay with it due to how its getting better in time. Naturally if other games will go further too and be as entertaining in many different ways then just fishing then i might rethink my opinion. But for now i m just interested to see what this expansion will bring further to the table. Just to share my info.

Have you tried Ultimate Fishing simulator 2? You can put fish you catch there in the aquariums and grow them, I think breed them aswell(Not totally sure about last part so don't quote me on that). The game isn't as fleshed out as FP and RF4 yet, but it has potential :)

Yeah, the angler is really close to being there, just a few more quality of life changes to make the game good. Russian fishing 4 is free though, and we have a few videos over it, so doesn’t hurt to give it a try

RF4 is the best in many ways but cost of everything in game and that insane real money shop rates makes it impossible to play. Silver you get from selling fish will not cover single spinning bait you may lost even if you play whole day. Crazy expensive game to play. Experience gain level is crazy too, you have to grind as crazy no life to hit levels.

Loved fishing planet bc we the players are right, u quit bc the grinding of one fish and if u don’t u lose money witch isn’t fun, I don’t wanna go to Florida just to catch bass all day just to go to Michigan to catch pike to go catch est plus i would love to know of a pike or a bass that can pull drag like it’s a tuna 🤣idc how big a bass is it’s not pulling more then 30 feet of line in 1 go I promise you that with max drag and without snapping the line 🤣🤣🤣🤣the game is fun but they in my words they made it to much like a video game yes we all want that bass to pull out a lot of line but be real u can catch a 40” pike like it’s a minnow yet in fishing planet a 29” pike can pull drag even on max drag and a reel and rod meet for it can pull 100 feet of line like it’s nothing it’s kinda trash so ya I quit before hitting a lot of cool stuff and most of the maps have the same fish to farm bass, pike, trout, carp, walleye it’s all the same thing just different map and to me that really bummed me out bc it looked so good but ya I can’t play ut till they change the money in the game and make it a little more realistic with the actual fishing lol no 40” pike is gunna pull that much or a lake trout like it’s so unrealistic in my opinion

You can troll in Fishing Planet, you just have to hold the rod in your hand. Also, FishingPlanet is pretty realistic. I fish in real life so much, that I only play fish in the winter. I apply all the techniques that I use in real life, and it works just like it should. I've caught every species in the game and every size of every fish, without help from other players.

That’s sweet! And yep, we have a trolling video showing just that- but you can’t troll with rod holders, which you can do in RF4. Believe it or not- a lot of the other content creators say they want COTW: the angler to stay arcade-like and not get any more realistic.

I would definitely give fishing planet a shot- it’s a free game, can get a bit grindy at higher levels, but playing along with our beginner series, it’s a good time- and not as annoying as Call of the Wild: the Angler.

The worst is that it’s made by a team that has no experience with fishing, vs. fishing planet and Russian fishing were made by teams who love fishing and wanted to make a game about it. I’ve heard word that a lot of things people want in call of the wild the angler just aren’t possible because of the lack of foresight to include the ability to add it in with the game engine. Not the case with fishing planet and Russian fishing- those teams knew everything to include because they actually fish.

thats why i started playing rf4 and not fishing planet... i got to rocky lake and thats when it started boring me... first lakes - travell isnt that bad... but then suddenly 2000 just to go fishing? unplayable

I have a huge problem with calling RF4 realistic. Every mechanic in the game, no matter how "realistic", loses its appeal in the long run due to complete illogic. I can break my fishing rod on a water lily because the rope and hook are too good to break? So the rod just breaks on a water lily? And then you quickly lose all your equipment, even though it should only be floating or lying around in 30 cm of water. I can't reach it with my new 3m landing net? Well, then I'll just get my feet wet in real life, but I won't let 200 euros drift off into the sunset. No, despite the established bazaar mentality and rip-offs in F2P games, this is unbelievable! The better my equipment, the more dependent I become on even better equipment. In places where I used to catch really good fish with my standard equipment, I get less and less the better my equipment gets. This is unacceptable, whether with American fish and maps or not! It is ridiculous and should not be canonized directly within a comparison. At the end of the day, it's a well-made money-making machine, not a loving, realistic fishing simulator.

They certainly have other ways to make you want to pay, but yes, the free aspect creating a grind is what a lot of players really actually enjoy. Makes you feel like you achieved something!

You can play on Geforce Now. Its cloud streaming. Also maybe don't play it.. you will need over 2k hours to enjoy late late game.

In a game called Russian Fishing I'm not sure that I would consider it a Con that locations are limited to Russia. On the contrary, I see the recent expansion to the Norwegian sea a con since there must be enough Russian locations at the Arctic sea that could have been chosen. and again, I would consider it a con to have only Russian fish in a game called Russian Fishing. But that might just be me.

Yeah ill stay with fishing planet to put it simple the angler sucks poor water quality no landing animation annoying strike animation to expensive no 3rd person when driving the car to easy to get diamonds really disappointed in ew thought they could do better

Yeah, but it is brand new, i Also dont like it but wait before saing it sucks, fine it at least till march, but i think the best game isnt fp but it is rf4, it has a lot more mechanics, yeah it is only in europe but at least it isnt as ripetitive as fp, plus the fish model look much nicer, and the fishing mechanism is much more realistic,

Yeah, I’m not sure if they’ve ever done a fishing game before- in their Dev diaries they shared that they’ve been making the cabelas hunting games for years. I’m not sure a fishing game would carry over from that experience.
