One of only 497 B2K option cars produced from 1987-1991

The car was delivered only with the CC3 / 24S transparent blue removable top, it replaced the fiberglass top, C2L is the code for the dual removable top option that this car has not been optioned with… It is one of 12 Bright Red B2K Callaway coupe produced in 1990, 1 of 6 with the black interior, all manual and of the 37 Callaway coupes in 1990, only 22 were Aerobody coupes.

Chris, it never ceases to amaze me how over the many decades, people buy VERY expensive Corvettes and either neglect or trach them. In 1973 I bought an abused "396" big-block for only $1,100!!! Note the "396", that was because the original 427 had been granaded long before, causing an engine fire that toasted the driver's side of the hood and the top of the front fender. The car was ONLY six years old, had a ton of problems, and it was headed towards the junkyard. The adjusted for inflation price of your Callaway makes the new C8 and the new C8 Z06 look like the bargain of the century! You are doing excellent work!

That's pretty good info as many lose their codes when the console door breaks and gets replaced with one from another car or and aftermarket piece.

Thank you - without B2K I have nearly the same (!) Option Codes in my 90 like your Callaway - it is the same base model in Black with C2L (two targa roofs)

Nice comparison to today's pricing of $152k which is roughly what the '19 ZR1's sold for. Now if you can find one for the sale, prices, at least asking prices, are $200k and even more. Strange times.

Knowing the history of the car, have you considered pulling the engine to give it a complete going thru. Something to think about.

@@mycorvettelife At a minimum you need to check the freeze plugs. If they are steel plugs from the factory be aware as the cooling system seems from your videos to have an excess of corosion which will rust the freeze plugs from the inside out. I have worked on many corvettes as a professional mechanic for 20+ years and I understand the last thing you want to do is pull the engine, but it would give you the opertunity to inspect the lower engine component's to ensure you have the best engine possable. I think the car deserves at least that being part of history. Thanks for listening and keep up the great corvette videos. George.

Interesting info Chris! Do you already have the Carfax / some sort of vehicle history report on the car? Do you know more of its history beyond the last owner who let it rot? I'm sure a whole bunch of us would be interested to hear more about the history as you find out more info. It is unbelievable that such a special car was left to rot like this. When I was growing my favorite car was the ZR-1 and the Callaway a close second. As about 8-9 yrs old I completely wore out the Road and Track Corvette special where they compared the two. I would love to put an Aerobody beside my C5 someday. Keep up the great work! This is so interesting!!

_Very well documented B2K Chris for certain. (In 2021 dollars adjusted for inflation, the car would be 158 large!!! Wow). Kind of bummed out though, as the second window sticker from Callaway is not available (yet the leather bound certificate of authenticity makes up for it). Wondering how many owners prior to you(maybe with a little fate, the very first owner has the original Callaway window sticker)? According to my research, your red with black interior 1990 B2K car with AeroBody is probably only 1 of 6(that's beyond astounding). Thank you for saving this rare C4._

@@mycorvettelife more interesting information. It's certainly not unusual for a B2K in your configuration to trade hands often. In the early part of the car's life, I'd bet the car was sold to the second or third owners at a hefty price far above MSRP from Callaway, due the incredibly limited numbers manufactured. Honestly, your car when finished will bring top dollar if you decide to sell it. .

Very cool! It was my understanding that windshield was a zr1 option and not a standard windshield. Buildsheet doesnt indicate a zr1 tho. Was the windshield installed by callaway? Too bad the callaway sticker isnt available. I really thought that started as a zr1 as it had some tell tale indications. Great video and loving this series!

But would have spent maybe 10 up north? Wouldnt take long and if the next owner didnt clean it or stop it then it would just keep going. Not knocking the car just saying it could be were some of it came from.
