Facts. These refs are jokes, garbage and trash. I seen a dude say “BuT ThIeR hUmAn” that excuse doesn’t work, they get paid to do this and learn all the rules, there are more than one refs out on the court at the same time, and these players work extremely hard to win games, only for these refs to ruin it for something stupid. And when the refs keep making mistakes, they get no punishments, no fines or nothing. NO EXCUSES! Adam Silver needs to make change, or poor officiating will effect the league with ratings.

Hi there, former official here, just a little perspective I guess. 1. For the most part, 2 referees should never be blowing their whistle to make the same call. Each of the three referees have a specific zone of the court they're assigned to watch. There's a specific rotation that's followed as well. So if the official on the baseline makes shooting foul call, he rotates to the top of the half court, while the referee who stands at the free throw line rotates down to the baseline to set up the free throw, and the man who started at the top of the front court moves to the free throw line but on the opposite end of the court. Point being is that the base line referee's job is to eye plays in the key, along the baseline, and in the corners. The other two referees divide the court roughly down the middle vertically and take a side. So if two referees blow their whistle on the same play, that usually means that one of them was ball watching, which is a no-no. As an official, you should keep your eyes in your own zone looking for fouls even if the ball has left your zone. 2. Officiating inconsistencies are very common at all levels of basketball. You have different crews with different chemistry and different standards of a foul. It hurts the quality of a game when there are inconsistencies in the same crew. I've talked with a few guys who have worked NBA and it's clear that there are communication issues very often within officiating crews at the higher levels of basketball. 3. My final point is this, referees call things selectively. Very rarely do you see moving screens or lane violations called as often as they should be, where as verticality and offensively initiated contact fouls go absolutely ignored most of the time. The NBA wants more points, there fore the games are getting softer because officials are being told to call things tight. It's not a good look for sure. Sorry for the essay, I just figured a little input on the nuts and bolts of officiating might come in handy on this conversation.

Day 13 of saying the idea “It’s All About The Numbers” challenge (fantasy draft) (Updated Version) 1. One of your starters must be under a 75 and be 24 years or older 2. Whatever number pick you have in the first round with the team you randomly selected, you have to pick a player that wears that number. So if you had the 21st pick you could draft Joel Embiid 3. A player on your team must have played 4 or more years with the team you randomly selected at some point in their career. 4. Your sixth man has to be below a 80 overall and 6’11’ or above, but they can’t be a center 5. A player that won back-to-back championships has to be on your team 6. A player on your team has to have won some sort of award (not including ROY) at some point in their career but have to have been born in 1996 or after 7. A player on your team has to have been a top 5 pick and have to have never played a full season in their career (not counting rookies) 8. A player on your team has to share the same birthday as you (doesn’t have to be the same year) 9. A player on your team had to have averaged 15 points off the bench at some point in their career 10. Robert Covington or Kelly Oubre have to be on your team and if they don’t average more than 9 points per game you have to trade away a first round pick for Felicio This is a 3 year challenge Like So Kenny Sees!
To be fair, the Harden foul they didn't have their challenge left, so they couldn't review it.

There is a way. It's called VAR (Video Assistant Referee). It's used in football (soccer) in Europe. A seperate referee is watching all replays en communicating with the on-field refs through an earpiece and smartwatch. Easy way to call goals/no goals/offside etc. Probably could use it for basketball too. Just have a ref on the sideline watching the replays and directly communicating to the refs on the court.

What if the refs had a 4th ref, who isn't on the court, just watching the cameras, and if there's an issue, the off court ref could talk to the other refs via headset and make the call

Man I rarely comment but Kenny is right i'm more of a casual fan and i tuned in to watch the end of the Pelicans vs Celtics. I found myself bored at the end of the game and eventually just stopped watching. This is a big problem and I will like to see how they handle this.

They need it to be reviewed by review umpires. They can get onto it quicker because they are online or already at the scorers bench, they are more likely to change the call because in the process they aren't admitting they are wrong and it would be a lot better for more reasons.

Same thing is happening to football(soccer) since last year with the introduction of VAR, refs watch replays for 5 minutes every 5 minutes and it kills the passion and the energy of the game

Day one of asking for The “Out-of-position” Rebuild challenge. -You have to win a ring with an entire rotation of out of position players. -fantasy draft -the position changes can’t be a secondary position -3 year rebuild -The rotation has to be at least 7 players like so he can see please make any changes in the comment section if needed. 👇

What The nba could do to fix this problem is to implement a VAR system like in the top 5 European soccer/football leagues. This allows the game to become more fluent and it will remove some confusion. Continue the great work Kenny, much love

Part of the reason why replays take longer is that they make sure the shot and game clocks are correct. Still feel like it could be faster, but it plays a part

They should have an additional separate official that reviews on the back of each game like an external ref that monitors potential controversial calls and reviews it immediately. That way if a coach challenges or the call is not decided they can quickly base it on the external reviewing official, removing the delay and makes the flow of the game more natural

possession arrow needed, timeouts advancing the ball encourages stopping play, need bonus/double bonus like college to make end game free throws matter more, having 2 basically means the game is over when up 3 with the ball

On the Kawhi Leonard play, I haven’t watched, but the reason one ref only blew the whistle, is they are supposed to observe certain areas of the floor, not all three guys watch the ball.

I started watching the highlights instead of most games and if it's a big game, i'd still wait for our national reporting of it, cause most breaks are cut out to save on time the games take to show.
