Wow, I just realized how important precise, correct pronunciation is for English words in a fast rap to be understandable... For Asian, Japanese Pronounciation is quite easy. For EN, it's hard. I was laughing so hard when i watch Street Fighter Movie (1994), when Sagat's pronounce RYU as RAY-YOU...then in 2024, i still find EN bros couldn't pronounce AOKIGAHARA and KUNOICHI. But then again, it's hilarious that my pronounce for EN is almost bad as most Asian. LoL

It was an interesting choice of song, and I'm sure it was from one (or several) of the Flow Glow gals. Calli's not exactly shy about her, lets say, mixed feelings on RIP these days (or maybe all of the Deadbeats EP), but... I suppose there's no use in arguing the 44M+ views on the MV alone. It's got a legacy and has influenced/inspired plenty of folks over the past 4 years. Might as well acknowledge it from time to time but continue to move "onward and upward" to quote ERB. I know Calli is in the midst of shifting her musical direction, and as a metalhead myself, some of her newer rock/metal tracks make me vury happy (Donmai, Cult Following, Overkill, Flash Bang, etc.). But I REALLY hope she doesn't fully abandon her rap side if she or UMG execs have it in their head that it's not been successful enough. It's part of what makes her unique and stand out in the space, and maybe even have more international appeal or adds those who aren't solely entrenched in Japanese/idol culture. Still very interested to see what's next for her, and hear what new concepts and even self-written melodies she has in her head as she slowly develops her music production skills and relies less on guest producers.

Based on Holomelo with Liz, it does seem like Calli herself really wants to improve more on her singing. And for the past few years, we've seen Calli's vocal ability go from average to great (doesn't really stand out since she's in Holo but its made up by her artistic control compared to most members, especially recently). I do agree and hoping as well Calli doesn't give up rapping (especially Jrap, because that was a genre she really loved and cherished) tho it's a question of whether that passion and love for the genre is still there. I do admit tho I am a casual Calli fan, I watch some of her streams and check all her albums, but I'm not a super fan who goes out of my way to know everything going on with her so I can be totally wrong.

I appreciate that she has some power and chutzpah behind her voice when she wants to convey that, in a way that most other members don’t employ, or maybe can’t? Seeing from a tweet a few minutes ago, she’s currently working on a new song with some harsh vocals. I kind of appreciate that she’s widening her vocal styles rather than just hyper fixating on one (like classical or Japanese traditional for example). It might take her a bit longer to see a further drastic improvement going that route, but it should add to her versatility as a singer. That probably makes the most sense to me as she’s a signed artist, so she has a higher priority on originals that can swing wildly in genre, rather than a focus on covering popular/established Japanese songs which is the tried and true Idol approach.
