The most touching part about this is that Callie still does love Arizona, but realizes that they are capable of feeling happier -without each other (in a relationship) and therefore just wants the best for her (and herself of course). I think this is BY FAR the hardest scenario of how a relationship ends - when love is still there, but at least one understands that it is not the right think to keep going.

@@mimiel7938 there's so much lol along with abandoning Callie at the airport to go to Africa, then coming back like nothing happened... after Arizona lost her leg from a plane crash things took an even darker turn... she started mistreating Callie and shutting her out. Then just when they fought their way out of that, Arizona sleeps with some random doctor. Then when they get through that, Callie finds out that while they were separated Arizona slept with an intern which causes a chain reaction that ultimately leads to Callie getting in trouble. Then ultimately it came down to the fact that Callie had been burning both ends of the candle throughout their relationship and just got to the point where she needed to just let it go, phew!

@@braelynandrade356 because she didn't leave Callie FOR Callie. she left for herself, which is fine! she had every right. the issue was waiting to leave her when they've already gotten to the airport and Callie had already dropped everything to go with her, that's one. two, Arizona came back and thought that simply showing her face would be enough to be welcomed back in. Arizona said it herself later on that she bails when things are tough. for me, her going to Africa alone was the best thing for Arizona, hands down. But at the same time that shouldn't eliminate the pain it caused Callie.

This break was such a coin toss, either one of them would realize there were other things to be happy about instead of always fighting and trying to fix things. I really loved Callie and Arizona in the beginning. I did. But after Arizona left Callie over kids and then left her again to go to Africa and then checked out on her emotionally when Mark died and blamed Callie for saving her actual life by removing her leg ... then denied her sex ... then CHEATED on her with a total stranger ... I was kinda over it. The final nail in the coffin for me where this ship is concerned was Arizona taking Callie to court for custody of Sofia and THEN deciding in the end, after she OBLITERATED Callie by taking her child ... that Callie's initial idea of sharing custody of Sofia was the right thing to do. Arizona acted like she was doing Callie some huge favor by letting her take Sofia to New York but it was Callie's idea to begin with. That's how Callie wanted it. They didn't need the courts or Arizona having full custody of Sofia. They should have worked it out together like Callie wanted them to do. Arizona is just really selfish and self-involved. She claimed to be a good man in the storm ... and then avoided Callie over stupid chicken pox because she wanted to stay in the sexy place instead of taking care of her. She eventually caved but it took seeing Mark actually being there for Callie to make her realize that SHE should be there. She's just ... awful in so many ways.

For some reason, I really enjoy watching this episode, despite it being such a sad Calzona episode. My shipper heart hurts, yet still finds room to appreciate it. I think it's because for so many couples on TV we get slow burns, which I love, but we didn't really get that for Calzona they jumped quite quickly into their relationship. Oh you all should see the lunatics pulling for Arizona to have custody of Sophia on that clip. I just had to remind them all how awful Arizona has been to Callie from the very beginning of their relationship. She never even wanted kids. Then she wanted to die after she lost her leg… Arizona didn’t think Sophia was worth fighting to live for then. She just wanted to hate on Callie and blame her for her leg, and hate her for not being on the plane, and use that as an excuse for cheating on her. Then go to this crappy therapist who gives them the worst advise and Arizona is all to eager to take what any sane person who really wants to save their marriage knows is crappy advice. There is a reason people tell married people to never go to bed angry at each other. This is that reason. Animosity stews and grows with each silent night. So 30 in a row… That was cruel and wrong of Arizona. And bad advice from a “marriage therapist.” It did give Callie the confidence to stand up for herself…finally! And I give the therapist no credit for that at all. Arizona is the reason their marriage ended and they even had to have joint custody of Sophia to begin with. Then she gets jealous of Callie for moving on with Penny. And takes custody of Sophia. Because she hasn’t hurt Callie enough and just can’t stand to let Callie go in with her life and take her child and be happy. No Arizona has to be selfish once again. I truly cannot stand how Arizona has always treated Callie! Arizona is just a rotten and selfish person.

Good on Callie for choosing herself. Because truthfully that’s all Arizona ever really did, was think about herself. She spent so much time worrying about how she felt after losing her leg that she didn’t even stop think about what it was doing to Callie and Callie deserved better than that. Callie fought so hard to save their relationship and Arizona’s life while Arizona just spent all of that time being mad at her for trying to save her. Even with Arizona’s PTSD, Callie deserved more than just being her punching bag.

According to Shonda, Callie & Arizona will begin relationships with other people in season 12. I think they'll get back together before the shows ends, though ...... at least that's what I hope for!

If it's really true love then you wouldn't cheat on your partner and emotionally abuse her. Everything Callie does is put Arizona's best interest at heart. Even if the execution isn't perfect, none of it was Callie's fault. Callie did not break Arizona's leg, but she had the best interest at heart because she knew that Arizona's life was more valuable than just be a leg. Callie baby's Arizona for more than a year and in turn she gets emotionally abused. Callie is stressed out, burnt out and used her utmost effort to try and make Arizona happy yet Arizona continues to put Callie through an undeserving hell and cheats not once but 20 times. I understand, Arizona may feel that she doesn't want Callie to keep fixing things when others already see her as enough, but Callie sees Arizona as perfect and wants things better for Arizona - this is the reason Callie baby's her because she thinks of new bond with Arizona as true love.
