Calling a Coyote in Thick Timber! Extremely Low Temperatures! We are coyote calling with snow on the ground. Calling coyotes in wooded areas can be a challenge. Watch this video to see how my brother Jeff calls and shoots a coyote despite the conditions.
I hope that you can relate to this hunt and use it to learn something as well. Thank you for watching and I hope you subscribe to my channel as well. Please feel free to share this hunt with friends/family/hunting companions as well. www.predatorqu...

awesome les.. exactly How I hunt foxes and wild dogs down here in Australia.. I use the predator call and my trusty .22lr.. getting a .223 soon to exten the shot.. .308 and tbe .300win mag I own are a bit to big..lol

Thank you so much for commenting and for your support! I would love to plink the coyotes, etc with just a 22lr. I am actually going to start showing a suppressed .22lr in action soon. Talk about quiet! I would say the .223 would be nice but perhaps a .222 would be better for foxes? Alot of the fox guys that I knew that were alot older than me used the .222 back when our foxes brought high dollars. And...the .308 and .300 would be really nasty on the little predators... :) Thanks again for watching friend! LJ

Hey Lone Ranger, I never have done the ghillie suit thing. Although I think that they are very good camo, up in your neck of the woods, you could get mistaken for a Saskquatch? Just sayin....! :) Thanks for watching and your correct about the tight cover and a shotgun. Quick and easy to instinctively shoot with a shotgun when they show up. LJ

Thanks Michael! Trust me when I say this, there is going to be a wealth of knowledge beginning to show up here on my channel soon. I just sent my editor 10 more videos to edit for KZbin plus I need to release about 8-10 more that are on my account. I filmed several yesterday and today that will really help alot of people. It is more "talking head" stuff and there will not be as much footage in it, but you will get alot out of it. Some of the stuff I use a white board to write down pros/cons. Thanks again for watching Michael! Have a good day! LJ

75% of my stands are like this in Arkansas. I have a spot that looks just like that with a big creek right in the tree line. Called a double out that spot first sit. Both jumped up and out of the creek with in a minute. Spots are are tough to hunt but when they are there it’s go time pretty quick.

I'm trying to call in a coyote in pretty thick timber. Basically its reprog. We did a set and placed the call out at about 100 feet from us. We I let the call run for 5 minutes and then shut it off. Should I have let it keep going until something came in?

I notice he uses distress call from the beginning. When would you do that, as opposed to starting off by using a coyote howl? I've seen most of your videos starting off with the howl.
@mknight5159
@mknight5159 5 жыл бұрын
I don't think it matters too much. Out of the 7 i called in. 4 I started out with howls, then distress. The other 3 I started out with distress, the I howled. Based off the 7 hunts, I would always howl first if you can. Gives them a lot of confidence right off the bat and you might anger the alpha male during breeding season, He'll come right in looking for your ass. . I don't know where you hunt either, but here in MN, it can get really thick with timber. I always make sure I squeek with my lips before I do any louder calling. I walked 100 yards back into my woods, sat down in a deer bed that looked like a ww2 foxhole with all the deep snow. Squeeked like a mouse, waited, squeeked again and here came a nice 40lb male. Walked right up to me 5 yards away and I rolled him with buckshot. Didn't even have to get out the calls.
@eak185
@eak185 5 жыл бұрын
@@mknight5159 I have foxes in my area too (North Carolina). Would a coyote howl negate the possibility of a fox showing up? My goal is to eliminate the predators so that more rabbits can thrive, for rabbit season. I'm not choosy between fox and coyote.
@mknight5159
@mknight5159 5 жыл бұрын
@@eak185 I'm not an expert on wildlife but I'd have to say yeah. If you howl, a fox will stay clear of the area. Only for the fact that coyotes hate foxes. They do not mingle well because there both predators. I've heard a couple stories of coyote packs tearing apart lone foxes. Not too many know, but foxes are more alike a cat, than a canine. Since they can climb trees very well.

Made fast work of calling and stopping him for the shot with a soft bark. It seems to me that he was attempting to circle ya both down wind to get your scent... maybe that's why he didn't come straight in to your brother. That's my guess.
