What an amazing story son. My grandson is almost five years old and I bought him a lifetime NY hunting license when he was just 5 months old. Just in the hopes he would love to hunt. He has gone out and tagged along with me and his dad and gets completely excited. I am 60 now and I hope that I have plenty of chances to generate memories like you have. I love him so much. Incredible buck and a moving story! Sticking with a bow during gun season is very admirable. I actually had a similar experience this year. My Grandpa passed away in August and the last conversation I had with him was about deer hunting. I decided the next deer I harvested would be dedicated to him thinking it would just be a good size doe. But on October 16th after spending all day in the woods a 14 point (my biggest buck to date) stepped out and gave me a quartering away shot at 15 yards. The arrow hit him perfectly and he died within 75 yards. Thanks for sharing your story! I’m sure our Grandpas would be very proud.

What a brute. My gramps would have called this the "rocking chair buck" that he never got. I to hunt a lot of dedicated hunts to gramps. I once wacked 2 bucks within 5 mins with my muzzleloader on his bday. Just enough time to reload. I sure wish the fella was still alive, he passed b4 I was even old enough to hunt.

My hunting partner my papa Marlin passed in the middle of deer season two years back. I was having a hard morning in the woods. Decided to walk to a new spot just to get out of the stand I just wasn’t feeling it.. I then walked right up to the biggest buck of my life at 7 yards and got him down. Since then I’ve upgraded to the 2.0 which has windproof and it’s awesome. Quiet, warm and comfortable fit. IMO it’s the best suite for cold conditions
