One feels like crying when Catholics, imitating Protestants, talk about the so called "Christian Music", with that omnipresent guitar, whereas they do not even take a little time to explore the grandeur of our music, art, architecture, and simply all we call "Western Civilization" would have not existed were not by the Universal Church.

Exquisite. I understand that Ensemble Organum or a group affiliated with them are working on transcribing the Old Roman repertoire into later neume or contemporary western notation (I cannot remember which). It would be wonderful to be able to read this wonderful music without needing an advanced degree. As I have said before, I'll say it again: this needs to be restored to liturgical usage. (I know, I know, don't hold my breath, but one can dream.)

The published a book with all the chants they recorded. Just met Marcel in Saint Louis, MI last week. They use the old notation whenever possible. One loses the psychological aspects of the music when using modern notation; it also isnt as versatile. This aspect is fundamental to performance. Anyway, he taught us how to read it!!!! Its simpler than it looks! My brothers and I will begin chanting this music, and by His grace we want to help the Western church have this music. We are Orthodox, and have met many folk willing to try and begin chanting more traditionally in the West. May the Lord grant us such things. Grant that we may sing that new song unto Him, before His presence. Although its more like an "old" song we forgot about. Lord have mercy on us.

Man I wish Paul VI followed the oath of Pius X, that way we would have still this glorious music playing in the mass instead of stupid modernised instruments. This is music!

After ten years we can see that Paul, John Paul and Francis became apostates of their oath and preachers of modernism condemned by ALL their predecessors. And now they have bravery to demand postulance, when they refused and weren't postulant to faith and teaching of all Councils and Popes before Vatican II.

Sing unto the Lord and bless His name, proclaim well from day to day His salvation. Before the face of the Lord: for He comes!" However "venit" means both "He comes" and "He hath come" dependant upon the syllable stress indiscernible from the chant as it is so melismatic. It seems eschatological in tone so I wager "He comes" is most fitting.

ps: The dark ages were spreading at this time. Most likely, this chant wasn't heard outside Rome for generation's. Except possibly in an Irish monastery. Footenote: At this time, on the mainland, everyone was putting down book's and learning how to fight. Only in isolated Ireland was the focus still on education.
