I'm a Roman Catholic and I do a lot of my praying with this chant going on in the background. It's very powerful. These chants are a lot like the Roman chants. And convey the same message of Jesus, love and peace. In a world so troubled, this is my retreat

I'm Jewish but I love to visit Russian ortodox chiurches. Our God is the same, there is only one Lord for all of us. This music tuched my heart and I'm so happy that I will be able to visit the Cathedral of the Savior on Spilled Blood this August. I will also visit Novgorod (Velikiy) and the ancient Russian churches and monastries. Russian culture is very close to my heart. Down with cummunism that demaged religion and moved people towards anarchism and terror.

Spiritual truth reaches us through many channels, through many prophets and saints and so powerfully through music and art when it is directed to that quest, that communion with the divine. I think that is why religious music of and origin moves us so deeply. this music makes waves of warmth flow through my body. It reaches a place of peace. In these troubled times I would wish to hear more of this music to soothe my soul and to let me feel closer to the divinity and to believe in salvation

This is the original text of this chant if someone is intrested in it. Just want to warn beforhand those, who will try to translate this text with help of Google or some other translating rpograms. You will not be able to do this. All Russian Orthodox chants based on ansient slavs language which was used by Russians around 1000 years ago. I seriously doubt that any translating programm "knows" this language. So you either 1) use some help from one of your Russian friends (if you have any of cource) who can read it for you and translate, 2) you can start learning Russian yourself :D, or 3) you can try to find already translated version in nearest Orthodox church in your country. God bless you all...

Just a starter the C is pronounced S the backwards N is pronounced I upside down L is g Cyrillic is a mix of Latin and old Greek. Named after St Cyril . Finally backward R is ya used in words and on its own first person singular I.

Danke, Callixtus!!!
Let this music be like a bridge that connect us all over the World, and let this help us true difficult times where we are at this moment, let God guide us and we will meet together hand in hand all do we have our differences...let the Love of God bless us.

The doors of repentance do Thou open unto me, O Giver of life, for my spirit waketh at dawn toward Thy holy temple, bearing a temple of the body all defiled. But in Thy compassion, cleanse it by the loving-kindness of Thy mercy. Both now and ever and unto ages of ages, Amen. Guide me in the paths of salvation, O Theotokos, for I have defiled my soul with shameful sins, and have wasted all my life in slothfulness, but by thine intercessions deliver me from all uncleanness. Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy And according to the multitude of Thy compassions, blot out my transgressions. When I think of the multitude of evil things I have done, I, a wretched one, I tremble at the fearful day of judgment; but trusting in the mercy of Thy loving-kindness, like David do I cry unto Thee: Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy.

Elie Wiesel stood in the middle of a concentration camp and looked at his father and said that he couldn't believe what was happening in the middle of the 20th century. We have this video of a beautifully presented hym praising our creator. Why does it have to deteriorate into this kind of conversation? When will such talk end. Surely God cannot be happy with this kind of talk. We are all one in God no matter what name he is known by. There is but one God, and he is our father. Bless you!

A few years ago a protestant friend and pastor quoted Eusebius, where Theodosius was criticized for receiving the body and blood of Christ. This was a transubstantiation statement spoken by a Protestant? I asked about Transubstantiation and was told the Eucharist was an invention of Constantine who adapted Roman mystery practices into the church. But I researched Polycarp and other pre-325 fathers. The Eucharist was doctrine within 100 yrs of Christ. So I found the true faith- Orthodoxy
@joshua_wherley2 жыл бұрын
You are correct, Michael. Ignatius of Antioch wrote frequently about the Eucharist being the authentic body and blood of Christ, not just a symbol. And, he lived long before Constantine the Great was even born! On another note, welcome home to the Church! I was Lutheran but was received into the Church a few years ago after a long search.
