Nice video! One difference with the front is you cannot pull the shaft out so if a socket is needed to loosen the bearing nut it will have to be deep enough to accommodate the axle. Driving the ctis seals in with the driver that is in the TMS is nice because it has a thin ring on it that will bottom out on the outer edge of the plastic seal. I do remember slamming those in pretty hard. 🤪

Thanks a bunch for the input. I plan to go back & link your videos in the description as well. They helped me a bunch.

Very well done! I wish I had some helpers, too... every once in a while. I'm going to be doing gear and locker replacement, including this servicing in a month or so... thanks for showing this. BTW, for those saying you should "service the brakes" ...if they mean to do an adjustment, the adjustment is automatic. Doing well, love your vids.

I saw your video on that project... Going to be a lot of work! I have some big ones coming up. Have just about everything I need to do them. Just getting cold here now so I may hold off. Been getting some little stuff done though.

This is probably going to be a ridiculous question, but is there a 1:1 planetary gear option? Or a non planetary hub option? I can get a set of affirdable axles. Can get affordable lockers too. I'd just rather run them as 3.90 for the truck I want to use them on. I'd like to use a 445/50R22.5 and wouldn't have to have the rear rims faced in.
@CallMeColtLLC Жыл бұрын
You could weld it all together? The main advantage to using these axles is for the planetary gears though.

Good thing you used same spacers and did not unnecessary modify the play in the spider gears, so you did not modify the surface contact formed between gears.
@CallMeColtLLC2 жыл бұрын
I didn't plan to change anything, but, if the gears had worn over time or someone had done something improper in the past, things would have needed to be changed. Now that you mention this, if adjustments were made, a flush after some miles should be done and I should have mentioned it due to the possibilities of metal shavings since everything will "wear" in together slightly possibly. Thanks for pointing this out!

@@CallMeColtLLC few other youtubers did modify the backlash even if this was within specs and no wear. Unnecessary. And this is same for any gear work. I would measure everything in gear work before taking out, and if all good, I would mark put everything exactly same possition/ relationship etc. Cheers.

Good job! My OCD is killing me with your rear passenger fender. Grab a big adjustable nut rounder wrench and bend it back to OEM shape LOL Keep up the great video series!

Those.were huge nicks in the bearing race do you know how many rpm the little rollers in relation to the tire size?
@CallMeColtLLC Жыл бұрын
They are going many times more. Made this video a few years back. I don't recall issues on where the bearing makes contact, but on the sides. Have done a LOT since then. Share the time stamp if you don't mind.

awesome video, I just got my own m1078. What is the maintenance schedule for the hubs? Time wise? Mileage? How often is it calling to service them?
@CallMeColtLLC Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure on what the suggested service intervals are honestly. I probably won't do it again unless I have a problem to be honest!

Im looking at get a m1078 and looking on getting some info where is a good place to get maintenance stuff like this to keep them running ?

Through my videos I have links to things in the descriptions. There's no real one place. I'd stay away from the big name surplus vehicle surplus suppliers. eBay can be a good source.
