I’m an original online game player . I started playing with Quake many moons ago. When Quake 3 arrived we noticed a handful of cheaters popping up but it wasn’t a major disruption just a few idiots spoiling the game usually rubbish players . Now I’m in my 50s and I still love online shooters still can’t seem to grow out of it 😂 . Since streaming took over the cheating is way out of control it’s sad to see to be honest, I’m still no mug at my age because I have played for so long but it’s virtually impossible for legitimate players to do well nowadays . The whole industry is rotten to the core

I started with Doom and Duke3D via BBS. I know the feeling. Cheaters were few and far between in those days. Now, it’s virtually every game you play has sus players in it. Battlefield is pointless if you can’t play on a private server with active admins, and I can’t imagine Warzone now… At least we don’t have to enter modem strings anymore… Oh and for those gamers that think we’re old, let me give you a heads up: time starts flying really really fast once you’re out of college…

Please do not stop, I had great memories from a golden era of call of duty that were full of joy - even the person dying would sometimes be happy to say wd that play was clever I've never seen it before (that's magic). Now there's little room for that magic type of interaction. Now I look at my nephews and nieces and they are running into so many cheaters it's shocking (not just COD), it's OK though because they an squad up with me , I'm no god but have maintained around a 3.8 to 4.1 KD with very good GS so I have their backs. I'm now Shadow banned because last night I was playing ranked resurgence and I killed a guy, pinged his teammate that was hiding in the gas station bathroom. I went to go wipe the team and in proxy he said "I'm hiding here till y'all come back". Nothing can substitute a person, videos of suspicious activity should be reviewed. I'm glad there are ways you can detect cheats, Guardian, Ricochet, but like you explain very well, there's ways around it, and rats always find a way to get the cheese. If Activision would have players review suspicious game play, and give them the tools,it would be beneficial.

If you want the cheating to stop you have to call your local FTC. I just contacted them and they told me the more people that call they will eventually take action but you have to call your local FTC to file a complaint and in the complaint tell them you're filing a complaint against Playstation and Xbox for not taking care of this situation when they clearly know that there's so much cheating going on in online gaming

And for those of us in the UK, contact the Citizens Advice, Advice Direct Scotland or Consumerline (Northern Ireland), can also contact Which? for advice. I'll be doing this on Monday as both Xbox and Activision aren't doing enough to combat the hackers online, we all spend money to play a game that has reportedly got Anti-Cheating in it, but even that's a poor system if these top streamers have a "Priority Report Button". It'll be interesting what a lawyer/solicitor would have to say about the legal side of all this too, enough people get together and sue Activision and Microsoft/Sony for not providing a service they've advertised in the past and the lack of control all those companies have about this.
