I have to say, I haven't looked at DW for a hot minute. And I will say this, those guys from Gearstorm actually did some alright work, considering what they were working with. I mean at least the interface looks better than it did, and some of the core functions like chat are working it seems anyway. But, you can sprinkle gold on a turd and you've still got a stinky gold covered turd.

@@loturzelrestaurant The sucky part about Veloren is that it looks like a scam. its almost a 1 to 1 like cubeworld and appears to be ripping assets from cubeworld (housing, and some weapons shown in the trailer look like cubeworld. not only that but the game is so indistinguishable in its movement and loading that I can't tell weather or not its cubeworld gameplay with edited models or a new game. Plus who markets a game around another game which was a complete failure in the eyes of most alpha backers; and then proceeds to ask for their game to be backed. Like marketing 101 is to not do that.

He dosen't know how to execute them properly in the engine. That's why there's so much stuff that is all out of place in Dreamworld. I try to blend things as best I can to make my environment look colorful and pretty... But The houses they chucked in the city look dull and terrible I just didn't like the models or the colors they choose.

Credit where credit is due - the book as a roof is a half-decent idea, that could look rather nicely in something aiming for a whimsy, fairytale kind of aesthetic. Of course that would require cohesive vision and some good execution, but still, not a terrible concept.

Well I have news for the Dreamworld team because they don't have the ability to decide on whether requests are 'legitimate' - also, that's halfarsed use of the standard wording about your legal right to obtain a copy of the data the company holds about you, the user/customer (like the info you completed when signing up & making purchases). Nothing to do with their breach of GDPR by demanding said data before providing their 'product', nor refund requests due to the Dreamworld breach of privacy regs. So technically you're being even more generous with that timeline because they are past overdue in refunding this person for non-receipt of their 'product' (and I use the term loosely!)

@@billcross2432 this is so not true that it's actively harmful. Asset packs are an amazing tool and nearly every major game uses them (most of the time they're actually subtle about it though). Not every small team actually has an artist on board, and having some cohesive icons instead of whatever you can pull off in 1,000 hours of MS paint will do a load of good to make a game look more professional. Not everyone is good at art and thanks to asset packs not everyone has to be.

This scam didn't hit that much people (60,000 backers, that's nothing ; and only a few of them put a lot of money into it). Statistically, the risk of a psycho being among those backers is very low. Also, they'd have to be doxxed for someone to show up at their home, and that someone should be able to _reach_ that address. Again, very unlikely. I'm not worried about their safety. I'm not worried about their "lawsuit armor" either: if the case does get to court, they stand no chance. Asking for customers' personal information through private communication is 100% forbidden.

Though with 60.000 victims you don't need anyone to be a psycho to want payback for being robbed and then having the robber laugh at you and dare you to do something about it.
