I'm 61 and I'm getting my first clarinet in a few days. It's used from ebay Yamaha 250, so im praying it's in playable shape. Good luck on your studies.✌️😊

I'm 54, got into the clarinet a month ago, I've been on eBay, I now have 6 clarinets and 7 mouthpieces 🤷🤣, I spent my time replacing pads, recorking, and changing springs 😉 it's quite an instrument

This is a great video! I’m a section leader for my high school band, so I will definitely be referencing back to this video. Thank you!

Just wanted to say thanks for pointing me to Tomplay last year! I LOVE it. I'm more into jazz and some of the old standards think "Moon River and Fly Me to the Moon". I got my year of Tomplay at 40% off last Thanksgiving Black Friday special. I'm hoping to renew the same time for a similar discount this year. Fingers crossed!

So im out of practice. Got a clarinet from the VA a few years ago. Started practicing again because it soothes my mind. Im missing my top teeth and im having a hard time getting upper octave and keeping in tune. Is there anyway other than dentures I can improve?

i was tryna search for tips for embouchure. started to lose hope of finding a video and decided i should just find it myself smhow, but then this video came onto the home page... the checklist smhow helped a lot, my range just got a bit higher with greater tone cuz of this. Feels nice to actually play half decent. Thanks~^^ but how do i firm my top lips? I keep ending up biting a tiny bit when playing altissimo

Hi Cally. Which piece is this on Tom Play? I am trying to find it and can't seem to find it. I purchased Tom Play on your last promotional and am really enjoying it! Thank you for all you do!

Nice tips. The last tip I did not understand. Align your teeth like how? Put your lower teeth more down on the reed?
@callyclarinet11 ай бұрын
Top and bottom teeth parallel, so if you have an overjet like me then jaw slightly forward.

Thanks a lot. I have a chalumeau C from Thomann. What notes should I choose from Tomplay, what instrument?

The embouchure checklist presented here will tend to produce tension in the throat and limit the flexibility of your sound. I suggest studying with someone who can either teach you double-lip embouchure or Joe Allard's method for single-lip embouchure, which can produce results similar to double-lip embouchure if you learn it properly, for which you really need a teacher who has either studied with Allard or studied with one of his students. With the Allard embouchure, the only tension in the embouchure is the lower lip, which serves as a flat platform for the read. The corners of the embouchure are not brought in and the lips do not curl around the mouthpiece. The upper lip is quite limp. With double-lip embouchure there is a bit of tension in the upper lip, but it is really quite modest.

My biggest mistake -i used to put to much bottom lip in my mouth all the time. Any chance it’s too dangerous for health cause of constant pressure of teeth on lips?
@callyclarinet2 ай бұрын
Hmm, never really thought about it, I don’t know!

Hello im in 8th grade preparing for midwest and i wanted to know why i have to pull out my barrell so much because in super sharp.
@callyclarinet2 жыл бұрын
Some clarinets/mouthpieces/players just play sharper than others. Temperature and weather can also make you sharper/flatter. Nothing bad about having to adjust the instrument to be more in tune!

Can the backing tracks be downloaded after purchasing to music?
@callyclarinet2 жыл бұрын
If you pay-per-score, you get the track and the music. Once you purchase the song, you can access the backing track in the Tomplay app.

We should encourage everyone to be expressive with their bodies as long as it helps the music expression and I think it does?
