www.mekuti.co.uk Ear work - TTouch can be used to normalise a situation, whether it be health, confidence or behaviour. Tension around the head and ears can create a situation where the dog becomes sound sensitive, leaving them unable to cope with fireworks, thunder, and so on. Firework fears and sound sensitivity can be alleviated with ttouch ear-work along with other methods which work together with the dog.

I attended your workshop at a California Equine Expo about 10 years ago. Used it last night on my border collie when some fireworks went off. She was panting frantically as my husband was trying to calm her. I told him to apply this touch and BAM she stopped panting, relaxed and went to sleep. My husband looked at me with disbelief. Thank you Linda for sharing your knowledge to the world.

Awwww!! It is fun to massage them because they love it so much. That's a cute dog you got and the T-shirt.

Thank you for sharing this technique and your time. It is helpful and easy to follow since you demonstrated it perfectly and you covered all the bases of this technique. It is very generous of you!

I'd like to see a video of a terrified dog being calmed by this technique. It's wonderful seeing it work on a dog who seems to be pretty relaxed at the beginning. How long does it take for it to calm a terrified dog though?

If your dog has reached the point of being terrified it will take much longer to calm them as their external sensory system will have shut down (the effect of adrenalin). It is far better to recognise when your dog is beginning to feel anxious by learning a little about calming Signals (Turid Rugaas has an excellent book dedicated to it) and to start work when you see your dog licking their lips, turning their head from side to side, panting, yawning and so on - remember, its all in context, sometimes a yawn is just a yawn! You are right about Mutley being chilled out - externally he's a very relaxed dog, but he internalises a lot. It was easier to demonstrate the technique on a dog who isn't moving around a lot which gives the viewer the opportunity to see how to do the technique. I take your point about working with a dog who is anxious so you can see what to do with a more mobile dog. I shall add it to my filming list. Thank you.

@Knowledge is Power I’ve seen you on every TTouch video complaining. Lol. My friend does this at shelters. Why don’t you volunteer at a shelter and try it since you seem so interested?

Hi Rachael, I came looking to your channel looking for sewing tutorials but as soon as I saw the video on calming a do by ear work I had to skip the sewing. This was fascinating - I have been doing massage therapy (only on humans though!) for a while, but so love this idea. Thank you.

Is there a reason for the dog wearing a T-shirt?

+Antoinette Berkshire Mutley isn't fussed about tummy rubs! Dogs are great at letting you know when they aren't completely comfortable with a touch. Often we are absent-minded when we are tickling them and our hands are guided by the dog away from the area to be touched somewhere (often anywhere) more comfortable than the spot we started. Have a go with your dog - see what they "tell" you.

+Rachael Greenland I could hear you fine and found your voice to be soothing, thankyou for taking the time to show this :) my Lhasa is a very anxious wee soul and struggles to sit still :/ hes getting older so I want to help him out in old age to relax a bit To the OP, everyone hears differently as ive watched many a video depending on pitch/tone it can be hard to hear certain voices! i find headphones/earbuds usually do the trick :)

WHY would you demo massage on a dog wearing a heavy sweater? Kills your credibility
@rachaelgreenland

The fleece jumper helps him to relax more by giving him a sense of his body. He's also a heat-seeking lurcher! I think my credibility remains intact...
