Golden Arowana is divided in two variants. Red tail found in Sumatra and non-red tail found in Malaysia. High back arowana means the colored scales (either golden or red/super red) is almost all the way to their back. Crossback means the colored scales are all the way to the back, hence the name crossback. There is no such thing as a wild highback and crossback golden arowana. These features are from hybridizing it with Indonesian super red arowana which had been selectively bred for decades to find highback and crossback super red. That is why if you look a wild arowana from above it looks rather dark because the scales on the back is dark. Arowana have 4 base color/iridescent: green, yellow, blue, purple. Golden arowana with yellow base gives an overall golden color which named 24k. Golden arowana with blue base is named sapphire. Super red arowana also have these 4 base color variants, but not as iridescent as it is found in golden arowana.

The people whom conduct scientific grouping just simply put those fish as same species as the RTG. The scale & the colour itself is different enough.
