Calumet Farms 16 Year Review, compared to 15 Year

I love this guy's straight forward edge - keep it up and keep it neat. Personally I'm a 16 over a 15 preferrer - and exactly for the reasons he describes - fascinated that he could summarize both views while prefering the 15 for his pallet - one of the most balanced reviews I listened to on youtube - the dude just overshined mash and drum - who I like - by his no bs approach. Well done!

Dank review, I was able to find Calumet 16 for 126.00 to 130.00 in NJ. With my palate it was like a delicious cherry and wood.

I picked this 16 up recently, about half done with it. I got a ton of leather vapor at first but with air it settled into a great bottle.

Just tried this one yesterday and was very impressed. Very strong oak profile but nothing astringent, huge sweetness and mouth-coating palate up front. profile turned toward darker sweets. No full on notes from me yet, but my first impression was that if the label said Buffalo Trace it'd be $300 msrp and it would have never hit shelves. It checks all the marks of a "premium" bourbon at what is, in today's market, a reasonable price.

Interesting clock 🤔 Yeah I bought a bottle of Calumet 15 about a month ago and I really like it a lot. I finally found Calumet 16 on a local liquor store shelf today so I got it but I paid $199.99. Expect to try it in the next day or two. Thanks for the review.👍🏻🥃

I enjoy both and would seatdown and sip either one but if I had to choice one I pick 16 because the taste ride has smoother edges with a bit more complexity. Saying that I wouldn’t be sad if I only had 15.

Picked up a 16 for $129 a couple months ago, it'll get cracked at some point. Only a $10 difference between the 2. in my area, might have to grab a 15.

I've had the Woodford Reserve that was $140. Not sure exactly which one. Friend said it was only released 2 xs a year. Woodford was the best I've ever had so far in my young career. Smooth is the only thing I can say about that. Looking forward to 16

I would take the 16 over the 15. I love the drier finish on it. If I see it in the shelf I would pass at MSRP. Although very tasty there are a lot of bourbons at a lower price point that I would take over them.

I would. Depends on your taste though. 14, 15, and 16 are all distinctly different. I felt 14 was a waist. 15 I love and have no regrets paying $120 and I can get another bottle and I constantly contemplate getting a back up. The 16 is noticeably better than the 16 and I think worth the price. But it does seem like calumet has a wide range of opinions. I’ve seen people say the 14 was their favorite and I’ve also heard people say the really didn’t like 15 and everything in between.

I felt like the 15yr had too much of a medicinal cherry note. I personally enjoy the 16yr more

Good review, I passed on the 16 over the weekend. Already had spent well over my allotment for the weekend. I have had it and I really enjoy the 16. Haven't had the 15, and I won the 14 and its, decent. What's up with that cameral angle?
