Thank you Skip my husband and I are really enjoying going through the Bible with you. We started at Genesis and hope to catch up to where you are presently as we do a study with you every day. We are gaining so much from these studies. We live in the UK. Interesting to note that there were 12 physical abnormalities listed and Yeshua was pronounced to have no fault found in Him by Pilate! The perfect sacrifice.

Thank you, Pastor Heitzig, for stating that you need a partner to share in wanting to be a pastor. This really caught my attention. This inclined my ear astronomically in faith!!

Christians who comment on biblical slavery often do their utmost to minimise the severity of slavery practised in biblical Israel, sometimes going so far as to say it was voluntary and that slaveowners were bound by ethical codes of fair treatment and generosity, which was far from what really occurred. Consider Exodus 21:20-21, which more honestly reflects the lot of slaves: And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. Notwithstanding, if he continue [to live] a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money. Of course, if a man allowed himself to be indebted to another and unable to repay that debt, he would necessarily offer himself up as a slave, which is about as close to voluntary enslavement as you will get. His wife and children also became slaves, whether or not they agreed. Slavery was no picnic just because it has become fashionable to eulogise ancient Israelite slaveowners.
