At 27:39 the question is "Why did they ask to go for 3 days when they weren't coming back?" But in Exodus 3:18, 5:3, and 8:27 it's not "3 days", it's a "three days' journey". It's not, "Let us go for three days." It's not a time, it's a distance. At 10 to 20 miles per day, on average, it would be 30 to 60 miles distance. There are multiple reasons for the separation distance, including that ". . . every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians" (Genesis 46:34).

One of the best sermons ive heard on Hell. Thank you and God bless you. Just one point i disagree with you on. Purgatory does exist and it is mentioned in the Bible,,,, you will not get out until you have paid the last farthing. It also makes perfect sense. No imperfect soul can enter Heaven or they would contaminate Heaven. Very few souls are saints when they die and so they must be purified in purgatory prior to entering Heaven.

Thank you for a very good lecture but you are wrong about Jacob. Jacob was not a conniver. This is a distortion. Firstly, his mother Rebbeka, had already had a prophecy about her sons and that the elder would serve the younger. She knew that Jacob should receive the blessing and it was her who told Jacob to go and deceive his father. When in front of his father he spoke in a manner that was unlike Esau and so Isaac suspects him. Why? Because he used G-d's name. When asked how he had captured the venison so quickly he said: "Because the Lrd Gd sent me good speed." Isaac knew that Esau never mentioned Gd. Thus he said: The hands are the hands of Esau but the voice is the voice of Jacob. The Midrash explains that when Isaac was bound on the alter about to be sacrificed by his father the angels cried and their tears fell into his eyes. Thus, when it states that Isaac was blind it also means that he was unable to see the bad in people. He couldn't see the bad in in his son Esau. Thus Rebbeka had to get Jacob to deceive his father. THe Torah states: And Isaac loved Esau because (his) capture was in his mouth...." This is a literal translation. The Rabbis explain that it can also be translated as "he captured his father by his mouth". This makes Esau the main deceiver. He used to deceive his father by getting him to think he was a holy man when in fact he was a blood thirsty man (after all, he planned to kill his own brother, and he spent his time killing animals). So the story is not so straight forward and gaining the blessing by listening to his holy mother who was a prophet was part of the test he had to go through. There is a place for deception in ones service of Gd! A = 1, B = 2....Z = 26 ISAAC = 9 + 19 + 1 + 1 + 3 = 33 SEED = 19 + 5 + 5 + 4 = 33. Thus Isaac was Abraham's seed. "For in Isaac shall be called to you Seed." Gen 21:12. 21 + 12 = 33.

Skip makes it sound like the Father is upset with us in all his sermons. Our conscious already condemns us and the enemy does as well. The spirit will always draw us -once convicted. I love Calvary chapels but the struggle is with teaching the Word you must balance it with the drawing love of the Father! Jesus was full of BOTH Grace and Truth!
