Skip is a great teacher. I have listened to the whole of Romans and now starting with ACTS. He brings the Bible to life. He reaches across all faiths, including my Greek Orthodox faith, but sometimes his words hurt, in particular when he mocks Baptism. It is a holy sacrament for us just as Jesus instructed in Matthew 28:19.

To be honest, I'd never heard of you until today. This Sunday I will be teaching on this passage, the birth of the church. Your message is really helpful! It's such an important subject that I want to be sure I'm "rightly dividing the Word of truth." Thank you !

I just found this series and am so glad I could join in. It's like being there. I'm so intrigued with how the Word is presented, verse by verse and expounded upon with the history or life as it was at the time. But I am perplexed about Acts 1 and 2, when Luke describes where they are gathered together. I get that the disciples were instructed to wait, in Jerusalem for the promise. Acts 1:12-13 references that they (the disciples) returned to Jerusalem after they had witnessed Jesus ascension (Acts 1:9-11) to an upper room where abode (resided?) the (named) 11 disciples. Then Acts 1:14 includes women, the Mother of Jesus and his brothers. Are we to assume that they were also abiding in the upper room or were they mentioned to denote that they were "with one accord in prayer and supplication"? Then Acts 1:15 states that..."in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, (a meeting to appoint a new disciple #12) and.. the number of names together were about an 120". Are we to assume that 120 people were in an upper room of a building or residence? How large were the dwelling places that would accommodate so many people? Acts 2:1 states... they were all with one accord in one place (on the day of Pentecost). Acts 2:2 it filled all the house (?) where they were sitting... the multitude (others in Jerusalem for the day of Pentecost) came together, confounded...amazed that they were speaking in the language they each could understand. If 120 were in an upper room how could, at the least, 3000 (Acts 2:47) people hear them? Were they all not celebrating the day of Pentecost, at the synagogue, for which they came? Just wondering?

Its to bad Peter didn't have modern day religion videos to show him the church started in Acts 2. In Acts 10:28 he called the gentile unclean and Acts 11:19 the jew still wasn't going to gentiles. Just imagine how much more clarity Peter would of had about the brand new Acts 2 church. The modern church is truly wonderful and full of truth.
@vickiemayes90383 жыл бұрын
? I'm confused by your statements. Peter recognized that God showed him different... Acts 10:28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; BUT God HATH SHEWED me that I should NOT call ANY man common or unclean. And in Acts 11 Peter is in Jerusalem and defends his preaching to Gentiles to the apostles and brethren. Acts 11:17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? 18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. 19 Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. 20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus. 21 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

@@vickiemayes9038 thanks for the question Vickie. I’m gonna assume you like to study your bible. Before I learned how to rightly divide my kjv bible everything I read was thru a set of blinders my church gave me called church doctrine. Just like your doing here I would see what I wanted thru the eyes of the religion I was born into. Others have different blinders cause they learned under different religions. I’m gonna attempt to read your mind about what u see in these verses. You see the jew and gentile are now the same thru the rest of the bible and Peter has been preaching this same gospel since Acts 2 when people believe the body of Christ started if I’m reading you right. Acts 2 didn’t have a single gentile in it and why does Peter now tell these gentiles its a unlawful thing up to this point if the church started in Acts 2. Heres what I see now that I used to not see. Acts 11:17 kjv this is not the gospel that saves today the Mystery had not been revealed here pauls gospel is what saves today 1 cor 15:1-4 kjv. The Acts 2 church doesn’t even get their sins blotted out till after the tribulation Act 3:19-20 kjv Acts 11:18 kjv this is really a future event because they thought the kingdom was at hand not the age of grace Acts 11:19 kjv these jews are preaching only to the jews because going to the gentiles as a whole is a future event after the tribulation when Jesus earthly kingdom is set up. Acts 11:20 kjv these jews were preaching the Lord Jesus not Jesus dying for your sin because they didn’t get saved that way. Christ dying for your sin was a mystery hidden in God till it was revealed to Paul Eph 3:1-10 kjv and Rom 16:25-26 kjv. Acts 11:21 kjv a great number believed but verse 19 already said these were all jews Miss Vickie I promise the bible is not this messed up and is easy to understand but no way can it be understood without rightly dividing the truth 2 Tim 2:15. The truth has to be divided because some truth is not directly to you. My first eye opener was somebody pointed out James is not directly to me James 1:1 kjv points this out. If you try and use the instructions in James for yourself its gonna mess you up. Once i saw this i started looking at what else is not too me and did I get a surprise. The best person I’ve seen to establish anyone would be Keith Blades. He’s been dead about 10 years but has utube videos called Basic Bible Comprehension L1 (Keith R Blades) theres 12 of these studies but i promise you can’t even begin to understand your bible without grounding yourself with basic bible. Theres a lots of people preaching rightly divided but your not gonna get it without basic Bible Comprehension. Satan is the prince of this world and your not gonna find truth in modern day religious systems. I challenge you to watch these videos and prove me wrong. Thanks again miss vickie

@@vickiemayes9038 Hey vickie i was just on my mower cutting weeds and listening to David Reid at Columbus Bible Church. You would get a very good rightly divided bible study there by just picking out a subject you want on his videos. I can almost promise you’ll get a better understanding of any subject you choose. He really dissects the word and you’ll see how to study better. I listen to about ten people that rightly divide.

So what about Acts 8 they were Baptized in water, but the Holy Ghost had not fell on them, and Acts 19 "Unto what were you baptized?" wasn't Acts 2 a baptism? Acts Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. and you failed to use the word Baptism in your teaching.

Jewish makes study the Torah until 10 or so and if they showed promise (the were required to memorize the Torah) then going forward they would study under a master. So the were not unlearned or ignorant but by Jewish educational standards they weren’t scholars of higher learning and were therefore referred to as unlearned. The apostles also spoke the trade language and Hebrew. Another thing is Peter was not poor ..he and his brother had a fishing business either partners James and John and their dad.

Dear Skip + All Greetings + Shalom in J E S U S ❤ Acts 1....and the lot fell on Mathias and he was added to the Eleven - Ministry + Apostleship. So, the Band of Twelve was re-established again ; for Ministry and Apostleship Acts 2.....When the Day of PENTECOST had fully come - In Dr Luke's continuous narrative, they - meant the 12 Chosen Apostles .......had Tongues of Fire sat on each of them (12) and gave them (12) the Gift of Utterance to bear as the Twelve Apostolic Witnesses unto ME (Acts 1v8) *Erroneous to narrate that 120 in the Upper Room were baptised in the HOLY SPIRIT.... on that Inaugural, Phenomenal Day of PENTECOST. *This Error in Interpretation is prevalent in Christendom, till this very Day. blessings Jerry Chua @Singapore

I have revisited the study of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Acts 2, Pentecost, Baptism in Holy Spirit with tongues; Acts 10 Baptism in Holy Spirit with tongues, 10 yrs after Pentecost God orchestrated Peter and Corneilius witness Jesus Baptize Corneilius and his houshold In the Holy Spirit with tongues. This was the beginning of the Gospel going to Gentiles.; Acts 19, 20 yrs after Pentecost, Paul the Apostle asks 12 disciples if they had received the Holy Spirit since they first believed... they answer no they had not heard of the Holy Spirit so Paul Baptized them in Jesus name in water and laid hands on the 12 to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and Jesus Baptized the 12 in the Holy Spirit with tongues. This is for 2022, have you been. Ask Jesus to Baptize you in the Holy Spirit, say thank you and by faith speak in tongues by the Holy Spirit.
