I hear the heart behind what you’re saying, but actually the CofE is more than the bishops. It should be, Biblically, compromised of faithful believers who rest under an honest reading of and leading by the Word of God. Unfaithful leaders come and go, but God will build His Church and that comprises faithful people within the CofE and across many other streams of Christianity.

@@MichaelPetek I understand the structure imposed, but it‘s only a viable structure when the bishops hold to their commitment to the Word. That’s the issue here - the structures are there to hold the faith together, and as soon as they begin to tear it apart, the bigger truth needs to shine through, which is that every believer is filled with the Spirit and called to defend the Truth.

The C of E lost me when the US Episcopal Church ordained women priests. My then Anglican priest roared with laughter and said it could never happen here. Now in Australia, they have women priests, bishops, and the first male priest who now says he is a woman priest.

Can you imagine the persecution they must be enduring from the other members and the leadership?!?!? In the 1960s, the Anglican theologian Martin Thornton predicted that practicing Christian Anglicanism in Britain would be reduced a small remnant of the whole. We have seen it happen.

“Anglicanism is the English expression of the Christian faith.” There is no such thing as “the English expression of the Christian faith.” The Christian faith is a universal faith. What happened was that Henry VIII, for dynastic reasons, set up his own Church separate from the Catholic Church. Then, as English adherents of this Church moved to other parts of the world they took their Church with them but obviously it had to be called something else. Collectively, these overseas versions of the Church of England are known as the Anglican Communion. Which makes it all very strange because why would you want an “English expression of the Christian faith” operating in, say, Kenya? Even stranger, you have a Church of Scotland and a Scottish Episcopal Church which is, apparently, the English expression of the Christian faith operating in Scotland. Why on earth is there an “English expression of the Christian faith” operating in Scotland?
