Thank you for this video, Calvin! And thank you so much for sharing your advice on how to fix the opacity problem! I think you can make a short video of this part because it's very useful and easy to fix. 😃☀️

I’m glad I have the cat done from last week tutorial. There is one tool that I discovered that is very useful in my finishing Calvin’s art works, the Transcripts. After enjoying watching without interruption, his demo with his music and voice, and the smoothness of how he finishes his painting, I open his Transcripts and at the same time his demo, and then I can follow his instructions at my own pace. As always, thank you!

Same!! I had a few cats to choose from. I think I will make sure to keep a few cats around for future projects 😂 I never noticed that about the transcripts! I guess my videos are very organized with the process so I think the transcripts are probably easier to follow

Love your videos! Have you ever considered doing one that shows using a photo and doing different things to it, rather than drawing? For example brushes and clipping masks, etc. Thanks!
@calvinatdrifterstudio843811 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you so much! Do you mean using a photo and applying some techniques and effects to make it look like a painting? This is something I have done before with an app called Simply Watercolor, it's like a filter (but it's not AI). You can combine several images in procreate using selection tool/masks, then export the edited photo and put it through the Simply Watercolor app. Maybe I will cover the process in a video soon if you think it's interesting☺️☺️

@@calvinatdrifterstudio8438 Thank you so much for your response! Yes I do. I will look for that past video as well. I have been very intrigued by what can be done to photos in Procreate with watercolor brushes, clipping masks etc to make a either a watercolor look or oil paint look. I'm not interested in any drawing, just photo art. Just a thought! Thanks!

Ooo this is just what I needed! Do you think you could make another scene with landscapes or buildings?
@calvinatdrifterstudio843811 ай бұрын
Hi! I have several tutorial about those - I will make a playlist for you on my channel called 'landscapes and buildings' . usually the problem with reference photos is the perspective is complex. So with buildings and landscapes, this is way worse and nearly impossible to do it perfectly unless you spend a huge amount of time. in this where I painted the cat on the cabinet, I had a perspective issue with the rug so I just found a way to flatten the rug and it still makes sense about what it is. In the case of landscapes and architecture, you can flatten perspective much more aggressively and turn the whole scene into something more symbolic of buildings and landscapes. The videos in the playlists I'll make for you will explain it better😊😊

Another great video! Thank you for making this! I’ve always struggled with this topic so this video really helped. And the tip about perspective helped my anxiety of trying to get things perfect. Btw, I think you did a great job at editing this video!
@calvinatdrifterstudio843811 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! It's really OK to reject perspective and just draw what we feel. Usually the artwork will still make sense of things aren't at correct angles and in fact it makes the artwork more interesting. Sometimes I will try to challenge myself to simplify a scene as much as possible and it pushes me to find creative solutions I wouldn't normally use

Would love to see more videos like this, photo collage. Really fun and educational for someone like me who struggles with a limited imagination. 😻
@calvinatdrifterstudio84388 ай бұрын
I'm so glad it helps 😁 I also lack a strong visual imagination. In my family, my mom was really into illustration and I just never managed to draw the way she did. Some artists can just close their eyes and see a while world but for us, maybe we need help. when I was growing up I was obsessed with reading all these science fiction and fantasy books. I think this influenced my brain to think more in words instead of pictures.
@quirkychris29338 ай бұрын
@@calvinatdrifterstudio8438 I get it. I’m a maths/science kinda girl and definitely think in words. I literally see the words spelled out in my mind as I think. 😂 I would never have thought that about you, though, as your art seems so intuitive. Perhaps there’s hope for me if I follow your example. 😻 Love looking through all your videos and learn something new with each one.

What do you use to print your drawings? Do you turn off the paper texture when printing?
@calvinatdrifterstudio843811 ай бұрын
I use a Canon color laser printer - I keep the watercolor texture on, but I disable the paper effect in the white areas. The final artwork image looks like a regular watercolor painting but it's on a pure white background😊

Hi! Thank you so much! Actually the real secret here is the apple pencil 1 or 2! I extremely dislike the ipad but the stylus from apple is incredible. Currently the apple pencil is the only stylus that functions so effortlessly, and that means we are stuck with ipad and procreate. 😢
