Hi Calvin, I’m new to Procreate and love watching your videos, you make the designs look so easy, which I’m sure is down to your skill, I love your work and find it very inspiring - I’m learning so much from you. Thank you

Hi Calvin! Love your art! I’ve already got one of your paper textures, but want to buy a new one. Can you make a new watercolor paper texture comparison video with all of your papers? It will be good to see the new ones in a comparison. Thank you for the tutorials, keep up the good work!

EDIT: Here is the updated version of the paper comparison: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaeXo5WlodhoiKM Thank you so much! I had totally forgotten about that comparison - I will try to update it today! thank for the reminder ☺️

Calvin, this is pretty cool. The technique you use in painting the bunny was new to me. Glad I watched. I know it’s been a little while since you did this one but, I’m wondering what type of paper you printed on. Is it watercolor paper?

Hi! Thank you so much! at the time I recorded this video I was using a canon laser color printer. This printer was able to print on almost any type of paper including watercolor paper but I got better results when I used card stock. So I don't exactly remember what I was using in this video but most likely it was just cheap card stock from the craft store ☺️

@@calvinatdrifterstudio8438 Thanks! It printed well. I appreciate the reply and the tutorials. 😎

What paper do you recommend printing these tutorials on?
@calvinatdrifterstudio84383 жыл бұрын
Hi ☺️ I have a tutorial about printing, here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o53EXmtuppqceqs The Short version is that the paper you choose really depends on the type of printer you have. I prefer the Canon color laser printer because it works wonderfully on any random cheap paper. I prefer to print on warm cardstock, so the laser printer is essential. Inkjet printers do require special paper, and I have given up on them because of how sensitive they are to mechanical issues. I have only had luck with glossy photo paper when using inkjet.

Hi Calvin! Do you use a screen protector on your Ipad?
@calvinatdrifterstudio84383 жыл бұрын
Hi!! Yes, I have a very cheap glass screen protector. It's 'matte' and not glossy at all. I think it was about 10$ or something, and it's been going strong for almost a year! It has a small scratch in it, but hardly noticable.

Hey Calvin! Thank you for this amazing tutorial! Question- when you print your work, are you using a specific type of paper? Thanks!
@calvinatdrifterstudio84383 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much ☺️ I use a Canon ImageClass Printer, so I can print on nearly anything that is somewhat smooth. I typically use some medium cardstock or sticker paper available very cheaply at my local office supplies shop. This is one of the reasons I highly recommend this particular printer... my previous printer, a Canon Pixma, was just a constant struggle because it required very specific and very expensive paper. If you want to learn more about my printing process, check out this short video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o53EXmtuppqceqs

Hi Calvin, I am having problems getting the colours and looks you have in your tutorials. I am guessing it's the brush setting. What's your normal brush setting for your abstract round?
@calvinatdrifterstudio84383 жыл бұрын
Hi! Can you message me on the Etsy store and show me a screenshot of what your brush strokes look like? There's a few things than can create problems like what you describe: 1. No apple pencil 2. Very out if date version of Procreate 3. Paper texture used incorrectly 4. Unusual pressure curve setting in procreate

Love your tutorials man. I bought your watercolor set, but I can only get 12 layers man….why is there so many pixels. Is there any way I could just get the paper texture to use on lower pixel art work?
@calvinatdrifterstudio84383 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony! Thank you so much 🥰 you can always crop the texture to a slightly smaller size -- older ipads will limit the layers so they don't run out of RAM and crash. I can also send you a smaller version of the texture, just message me on Etsy (even if you got the kit somewhere else, you can always reach me on Etsy)

Nice tutorial! I must say though that I am a bit disappointed in you for not crediting the work of Nina Stajner here. She has a post on Instagram from May 10, 2017, with an extremely similar-looking bunny.
@calvinatdrifterstudio84383 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) This type of arrangement is extremely common and no particular artist can claim ownership of cute animals surrounded by florals. A white bunny on a black background is necessary for contrast, and it's a natural design choice. Here is a pinterest board explaining this: pin.it/Z6R111S I’m sure there is a long and interesting history regarding this type of artwork that goes back hundreds of years. Edit: it seams like this style looks very similar to vintage Russia /Eastern European folkart going back before the 1920s
