Tim didn’t sing any of the bass on this. That was all Chance holding down the bass part. If you listen close, you can hear Tim singing the 3rd tenor line/baritone throughout.

I've heard that Tim has about a 5 octave range (as does Geoff Castallucci from VoicePlay). If I had doubts about that, this song pretty much eradicates them.
@jamcam94 жыл бұрын
He actually jumps up to 2nd tenor in a few spots with Rob doing baritone.
@louf10254 жыл бұрын
@Wendi you’re correct. You can hear Tim sing down to E1 in “Folsom Prison Blues” and up to B4 area in this one and in their Christmas song “Snow Globe”. Then of course Geoff sings about 4 1/2 octaves in the final 10 seconds of “Oogie Boogie Song”. They’re both amazingly talented as well as being friends who collaborate with each other (see Voiceplay’s “Just Sing”.

Hello Christi, I love your reactions and analysis of the many artists you present. Thank you. You earned my subscription a long time ago. I especially appreciate the vocal talent of Home Free and your reactions to their songs. Now that you have done "Mayday" plus a number of other excellent Home Free videos, I respectfully suggest that you consider their cover of Crosby, Stills, and Nash's "Helplessly Hoping" for your Home Free short-list. I know others have suggested it as well, but In my opinion, it demonstrates their vocal talents in it's purest form. No fancy video editing, no spectacular percussion effects, just pure vocal artistry. I anxiously await your reaction to this beautiful creation. Take care.

Someone else may have already commented this. Adam Chance was in a different acapella group before joining Home Free. He was their bass. And as you now can see, he's more than up to that task. Chance was the bass singer for another group before he replaced Chris Rupp and joined Home free. Chris has a good voice (sitting in the tenor-baritone range) but, while I enjoy his singing, I personally feel that Chance gives HF more versatility, not least because he can very ably cover the bass line if Tim heads for the rafters. That said, Tim and Chris recently collaborated on “Long Black Train”, which is worth a look - they recorded it as an overdubbed a capella duet.

Tim's range is 6 octaves. He can hit & sustain falsetto down to a E1b. He has worked with Geoff Castellucci (4-5 octave range) and Avi Kaplan (also a 4-5 octave range) to help them learn to sustain the low growls without hurting their voices. Geoff now does videos on YT to help others do the same. Chance is a bass from another group, but he normally is comfortable in baritone range. In this song Chance did the bass levels & Tim stayed in the tenor range to fill it out with Rob. They wanted to showcase their versatility.
