The thing to understand about bookies is that their job is not to predict the outcome but to make money despite the outcome. Odds can change simply because of the bettors. Before Fanduel, for instance, it was very common to have betting lines that were nonsensical for the LA Lakers and the Phoenix Suns. They were almost always favored. Why? Because their fans live close to Vegas. The Bookie wants to make money. Which players are going to play matters but what bets that the bookies have coming in matters as well. This could also be a BIG12/Utah hate line. If everybody, say 15 fanbases, are betting against the Utes then as a bookie you have to drop the line. so that 1) Encourage more and larger bets 2) More importantly, paying everybody in the event that the house loses is very bad. Conclusion: There is so much that goes into a betting line that if you are using it to predict the actual results from the game then you don't really understand how gambling works.

Obviously all the little things are factored in for the books to create the line but after the line has been established it’s 95% the money coming in on the sides and the other 5% is a players status that’s impacting the line. Not sure I agree with the LA & Phoenix thing but I see what you’re saying and the reason I disagree is that you said “before” FanDuel was around like there wasn’t offshore betting sites or local bookies taking action and if Vegas was doing that because of proximity then the sharps would be killing them. These lines are meant to entice but they are damn close most of the time. With that said, Go Utes!

JT is delusional.. he exaggerates how good he thinks UTAH is. it's just too much. he's is why the big 12 hates utah fans. to say you will blow us out is nuts. saying utah will be a top 10 defense in the nation this season is nuts. so many points he tried to make are discrediable. I dunno after watching the game can you still argue he’s delusional Utahs defense held Oklahoma state to 3 points for almost the entire game. and only gave up points from heat exhaustion and playing to prevent from losing.

@@rekorswe haha I still stand by what I said. Utahs defense still kept Arizona to only 23 points. again thats really good for how fifita was playing yesterday and he was throwing dimes. And Utahs defense limited them to only two touchdowns. And with how Utahs offense struggled a defense to keep playing that good is impressive. Utahs defense is still elite and will most likely end the season as a top ten defense still. Utah will get rested up and be back after the bye week ready to go with otoole and Reid and cam back. and still have a great shot at playing in the big12. Utahs biggest problem right now is the cam rising mentality it’s the oddest thing I’ve seen. The offense seems to revolve around how cam is doing. What Utah really needs to figure out is what’s going on with the play calling and the qb room.

@@alex411ist Arizona has a horrible offense and they scored 22 points. Oklahoma state is really that bad. you will lose to Iowa state, Colorado and BYU this year and We will chat at the end of the season about this "Elite defense" that literally nobody BUT Utah fans are talking about 😂
