@@ThePopeOfAllDope actually it works against the natural selection and ruins the quality of animal population. Alpha male is usually the biggest bull with top genetics. So by taking him out you let the inferior bulls to mate the cows which results in lower quality calves. Doing it year after year it is possible to make whole population degrading. While younger bulls usually taste better. But every hunter wants to pet his fkin ego and trying to get the biggest animal.

Brother, I've been listening to you and Joe on his podcast the last couple of days and I'm more than inspired!! I'll be 43 this year and have battled addiction on all levels. I'm also a felon so rifle hunting is out of the picture. I picked up a PSE stinger X five years ago and was hooked. I've drawn tags here in Wyoming but have never gone. I got lost in my addiction about 4 years ago and lost everything again... Bow included, but I recently surpassed 3 years of sobriety and have also quit smoking 4 months ago. I've started to build a gym in my garage and workout with my son... I want to live a healthier lifestyle and want to be able to trek up the mountain and be able to pack an elk out if I'm lucky enough to fill a tag. I won't be in shape for it this year, and I won't have my bow out of layaway until later this year, but next September I'm hammering the Bighorns. You've been a major inspiration and I want to thank you!!! I'm going to be spending the next year conditioning for the hunt. Man, thank you and Joe Rogan for the inspiration!!! How do you represent "hunting in an ethical way"? An oxymoron, no?
@MountainMan_NZ6 жыл бұрын
@@toneloc747 Hi Tony, thanks for your comment. As a meat eater I would disagree that the statement is an Oxy moron. The fact is that we choose to hunt for our lean, clean, 100% organic protein which has lived a free and wild life in remote wilderness and has been killed under stringent game management systems. There is nothing more ethical to a hunt than after having worked your butt off and in Cam's case taken the animal with a bow. This, in my view is a far more ethical and fair method of harvesting meat than the alternative of farm fed, mass produced, and mass butchered animals that are only ever destined for the supermarket shelf where 99% of humans don't understand, appreciate or even think about where their meat comes from. There is no story or connection with food that has been bought off a shelf... But, as proud hunters we simply choose to maintain that connection to the land and animals by hunting for our own food so thay we can continue to feed our families while sharing stories about adventure, geography, animal behaviour, conservation etc etc, at the dinner table. What is not ethical about that? Cheers, Jamie from New Zealand

@tasaman6 жыл бұрын
tadhg cooper if you knew anything about bowhunting what so ever, then you might be able to have an intelligent conversation. Since you are either ignorant or ill informed as to the lethality of a well placed arrow, allow me to shed some light. The blades on the heads we use are as sharp as razors. They actually cause very little trauma to the animal. What they do is slice a nice clean opening in a blood carrying vital organ. Quite often the animal just knows that something happens and it startled them but have no idea what it was. Often they will flee because that's what prey animals do when they sense something. They will then stop to assess what happened. This is just seconds and all the while the blood is leaving the body. They get lightheaded and stumble and it's over. Not much pain at all. That animal was dead in less than 2 minutes and maybe 1. It felt very little pain. We bowhunters truly care about the animals we hunt and do the best we cans to insure a humane death. It doesn't always go as planned and we do our best to prevent that. Thank you if you read this. I hope you have a little better understanding now. Sorry for you if you still don't get it.

This is a strange experience for me to watch. I'm not a hunter but I'm not against it, providing it's not wasted. I enjoyed your philosophy regarding mercifully killing. I remember ringing my first birds neck and my Dad saying you don't want to hurt it, so you need to make sure you kill it. Same thing I guess. Bow hunting is illegal in the UK, not sure it is any less lethal watching this. Thanks for sharing and educating me. All the best.
@airwolf619706 жыл бұрын
I would not comment except to say. There is nothing more primal than the feeling you get when you come to full draw on a animal. It feels right and we bow hunters I believe respect the animals more because it is so hard. To bad it is illegal to bow hunt in UK. But nothing is stopping you from hunting other countries. Good luck sir😊
@martintaylor46206 жыл бұрын
@@Rainersherwood . I agree with everything you say except the first sentence. We are safer here because of those laws and so is the wildlife. Far too many idiots here to have people running around wounding but not killing what they would see as 'sport'. Not enough knowledge in regard to butchering the meat so it would't be eaten. My concern generally would be losing sight of an animal after it's hit and leaving it to die slowly. The guys in this video obviously know what they're doing but until I saw the end result I was thinking they needed a dog with them just to be sure. Glad it ended well.
@harsspak6 жыл бұрын
@@Rainersherwood Totally agree. You can hunt deer, just not with a bow. The justification is that they are less lethal!?! That is not what this video shows. The way I see it is a poorly prepared hunter could just as likely make a poor shot with a rifle as they could with a bow. I love archery and maybe I'll go over to the Scandinavian mainland to explore the idea of elk hunting. Unfortunately it will be a long while as all bow hunting is illegal in the UK, so will have to get some more basic experience abroad first. All the best.
@harsspak6 жыл бұрын
@@martintaylor4620 I think you touch on a significant point. Most people in the UK don't even realise you can hunt here. The hunting community has been demonised, and as a result the meat goes to waste. Growing up in a rural area, game was always available but as time went by hunters couldn't give it away. As a result we have lost a lot of basic skills. I have a kid and one on the way, my wife doesn't want chickens to breed and slaughter. I want my children to respect where their meat comes from just as much as their fruit and vegetables. Meanwhile other people are eating stuff they have no idea if it's safe or ethical.

I retired after 25 years in the military and didn't get to hunt with my dad but a time or 2 in that span. This past season on our family place here in Texas I saw that look on my dads face after taking the best Buck of his life...so many ways mine too.

That is one of the most beautiful animals I've ever seen. Also the double tap was trippy as hell too. The reaction of the animal going through the brush and the follow up shot. He is a true master.

I've never been hunting, though my extended family hunt regularly. I've never intentionally killed an animal, outside of a series of wasps that just lit me up for mowing over their nest. I even try to save spiders in my house when I can, and I know all they want to do is merc me in my sleep! I've never fired a rifle, but I've held one. I've used a bow, but I can't say it didn't use me MORE. I've eaten animal, but I've never actually earned it. And after 3 heart surgeries before I was 40, thinking I'll be a vegetarian for the rest of my life, these stories make me wish I could experience and learn about what I just watched (above) some day! These videos, and the podcasts you share with Joe Rogan, sent me down a rabbit hole that I never thought I'd jump into! Thank you for that!

I saw the GQ-breakdown-interview with Cam and thought I might wanna actually see him hunt. This video seemd like a good choice and it was. I really like how much he drinks in the whole experience, his surroundings, the wilds. Plus, he definitely stayed true to his word and took the opportunity to make the kill as quick as possible. But this also made it clear to me that I don't have the stomach for hunting. Not unless I have to do it to survive that is. Seeing the life drain from a body is just too heavy for me, if I have to fight the thought that I didn't have to let that arrow go (assuming I would be trained enough to do it properly etc.). Still, impressively done, and beautifully shot, both with the bow and with the camera!

Born, and raise Utah, Bow hunted most my life. I remember following dad when I was no higher than his waist. You just pulled off an incredible hunt spot and stalk very hard to do in a dry state like Utah. You heard every time he took a step sounded like he was eating Cap’n Crunch. All I can say is incredible. You’re an awesome hunter. Glad you got your bull in Utah.

@greg33184 жыл бұрын
Glad to see the edit. As beautiful as they are, Cam is right. Watch some of the documentaries about the circle of life in the woods and youll see the amount of fear and struggle that these animals go through when being killed by other predators. The laws for hunting are primarily focused on the preservation of these species and their habitat so most hunters DO think and act like Cam but there will always be bad apples out there.

I'm a vegan, but I must admit this video was amazing. I don't eat meat because in this society I don't need to hunt, I can just buy food, but growing up and being Haitian we had to kill our own chickens, goats etc. I can appreciate this. If I absolutely needed to survive, I would hunt as well and honor the animal for feeding me and my family. Great insightful video. Alot of people are so disconnected at what it take to get food to their table. Even with gardening.

Cameron my name is Gabriel Stinson. I just discovered your videos on KZbin last week. All I have to say is thank you! At first I was like who is this guy? Another person whom uses outfitters and has to much money. But then I watched your entire Bull of a lifetime video. I learned about your workout habits, how often you shoot your bow and your faith. First off I'm sorry for judging you so quickly. Second I am using your story as inspiration for me to make it to my dream hunt of killing a nice bull elk. I have lived my entire life in Illinois. I love bow hunting. That's all I use for hunting whitetail deer in the fall and winter of Illinois. My cousin gives me grief every year because I don't go gun hunting. I just don't want to. I have no desire. I just want to use my bow. I was truly motivated by your videos. I have been out west one time in my life. My wife and I loved it! We would much rather be in the mountains. I was touched deeply by your "This ones for Roy" video and "The Tribute" video. The person that got me into archery and bow hunting was my dad. On June 25th of 2019 my mom called me @ 7:30am while I was on my way for an early workout before work and told me dad was gone. My family don't know how he died just that he did so way to soon and without warning. Truth be told I was in tears watching "This Ones for Roy". My dad was there for every deer I have ever killed. He taught me how to shoot my bow. The 2019 Bow season for me was really hard. In one way it was the best I ever had. I saw so many deer. In several others it was my worst. #1. Not having my dad! #2. I wounded 3 deer I didn't find and missed 2. I am normally a much better shot. At the end of the season I got 2 bucks and 1 nice doe. So my families freezer is full. This past few months after Dad passed has been really hard. I have dealt with panic inducing anxiety and a lot of thoughts about what is the point of all this. Thanks be to God for his peace! I don't think I could have made it without him and the people he has placed in my life. Since watching your videos I feel a renewed sense of focus towards a lot of things. Working out, shooting my bow, being a Godly husband and Father! Thank You! If you read this I hope to meet you some day! Maybe even go on an elk hunt with you! The later one is probably a really far fetched hope! Thank You Again! God Bless and Keep Hammering!

That was awesome. I'm not a hunter yet, but as a 51 year old guy that has lived an outdoor lifestyle for quite some time I've always been interested. Finding Cam and Steven Rinella's videos have made the choice for me that I will start this adventure soon. I could feel the apprehension as the shot drew near and my heart was actually racing as Cam tracked the bull after the shot. I could feel his respect and admiration for the animal as well as his sense of accomplishment at the successful hunt. I'm in!
