HELLO GANG.... Sack of Milk is the English interpretation of “sac-a-lait”, the Cajun French name for crappie. The fish are called “white perch” in north Louisiana, but in both places they are so esteemed for their mild, sweet flesh that the Louisiana legislature has declared them the official state freshwater fish.

Gordon Bresette2 days agoHighlighted comment I like your videos and you mentioned how when you catch one the other fish are enticed I'm not a know it all by no means but crappies are my life and have spent as much time studying their behavior as I have fishing for them I have discovered that noise will make them start biting again once they stop just slosh your hand in the water or stomp on the bottom of the boat it sounds crazy but it works also if you are on a school and you can see the fish caught a few and they quit biting just try something different just a suggestion

I had a Bass Hunter for many years that is a bit like what you have, but probably not as durable. I'd recommend you consider transporting it with the battery out of the boat as that was what started the destruction of the Bass Hunter I use to own, may it RIP. Always amazes me how people can spider rig without having a tangled mess.

Hello CAM, I am a little late to the party. I just bought a nice used Bass Raider today from a friend. I Like the depth finder set up. Can you tell me what brand or model that is and does it come with the clamp set up? I enjoyed you video and it has given me a direction to go. Thank you in advance.

Great video very informative thank you! I'm considering pulling the trigger on one myself. My only concern that I have with this boat is where I live. I'm in WA state. We have a pretty decent size lake up here that get 2 foot swells some times. The sides seem like I would take water pretty easily if water starts to act up. How easily would this thing get swamped?

How fast do crappie grow? Rule of thumb is 10" in 3 years and 1" per year thereafter. However, if the cover is good and food source is great they will hit near 10" in 2 years. The key is adequate cover and food source.

* Nice video , I have 2 of these , now my buddys have one . I got my 1st one 9 years ago and we still luv them. We call them buddy boats cause most are plastic pontoonish with 2 seats. I have found that a 40 thrust motorguide with a 3 blade prop works best with 2 small 35ah batteries (wheel chair batteries) makes them easy to carry and last most of the day. I also have mounted our padded folding chair to a plastic office task chair base, works great. If it only had built in dolly wheels like the Bass Baby. I just bout a Bass Baby & we are going to try it this season but its only 8 feet where this pelican bass raider is 10ft 3 in. to be honest If they would make one 9 feet long with rear dolly wheels that would be the ideal size. perfect for 2 ppl and fits well in the bed of most pick up trucks. My friend has a 9 ft Pond prowler made for Bass pro shops but they dont make it any more but its the best size. A 55 motor drains the batterys to fast, a 30 motor not enough power. motorguide may not run as quiet as the minnkota or the newport but the motor guide with the 3 blade prop runs smoother more consistent and better reverse power and that comes in handy more than you know. Oh and i put a drain with a 3/4 in drain plug in the floor at the rear very useful. nice crappie btw, wait till you catch a small 20 pound stripe in one of these :) enjoy.

Hi, my name is Rick, and I just bought a boat very similar to the one you are showing. It’s called a Field & Stream tracker 10’ long. I haven’t even put it on the water yet, but I am afraid of leaving it out in the winter! I live in S. New Jersey. I guess I am afraid of the boat cracking or anything before I even get to use it. I would like your thoughts about what I can do with my boat before it’s too late. Thanks, Rick

Hello Rick Happy Holidays to you and your family. Thank you so much for stopping by and supporting me and showing love. This is my 3rd boat like the one above...each one I have had last me about 10 years or so...The hull is UV ray protected and impact resistance!! They are built to last a long time...You can also get a tarp cover from any Home Depot or Lowe's and cover it and put bricks around the edges when you turn it over...it will be good!!

The sun dolphin sportsmans boats are the same as the pelican bass raiders. I got my 10ft SD sportsman from HD for 550 shipped to my front door. First I used a minn kota 55lb thrust. It moved it ok but if you are out on a large lake or might venture to a place with large gators get a gas motor to move a lil more confidently. I went with the 2.5hp Honda.
@MrMiscVids5 жыл бұрын
Large gators... you had a run in with a big gator being too curious? I've wondered if that might happen occasionally with this smaller, "barge style" boat. Just curious

Hi Cam, Thank you for the great reply. I also have the dual motors (both are Minn Kota's) but on the front motor I found a small screw under the control head that threads into a washer and nut. If you remove them you can turn the control head around and reinstall the screw and nut so you won't have to run the motor in reverse and be able to use the multiple forward speed settings.

Wonder how this would fare against the TwinTrolle X10? I’ve been looking at it as well and comes with trailer and Honda motor and 2 recessed trolling motors which operate by your feet. I like the recessed motors as you don’t have to worry about weeds etc getting wrapped around propellers. Not sure if you’ve seen the X10but you can search on KZbin for it. Getting to be very popular. I’d be interested in your opinion and subscribing to your channel as well. Love me some crappie, best eating fresh water fish, for sure!

Cam. Is your depth finder the Fishing Buddy Max DI? Man you have taught me so much about Crappie fishing! My wife just caught a 15 incher. We limited out using your nasty hooks and red and black with a chartreuse tail. Do you ever fish at night using submersible green lights? The lights attract phytoplankton, which attract minnows, which attract Crappie. Just bought a Bass Raider 10 E and a Minkota 55 Duro max with the adjustable speed. I am just needing to know about getting a depth finder here in Missouri. Thanks for your infomative videos, and your tackle selection. Just waiting to get nasty stick combo. Thanks, Robin 👍

Hi Cam, did you rig up your own depth finder, or did you buy it that way? If so, what kind of FF do you use? Did the C clamp come with it, or did you make that? Nice set up! Just bought one last month and trying to get it set up for a trip with my dad next weekend. Great simple idea on the fish basket. I'm going to have to steel that! The depth finder is also pretty slick. I have a cheap Garmin 4 that I rigged up to pack in a small cooler and use for ice fishing. I'm going to tweak it for the boat, but if I use it a lot, I'll switch to your set up. The spider set up looks pretty sweet as well!

I purchased the same model boat as yours from Dick's about 3 weeks ago and I love it! Great ideas for mods and you solved my dilemma about mounting the depth finder (yes, same as yours) . Excellent video, thank you.

Great video...love the fact that you didn't do any drilling it appears, that's a great sense of assurance of no leaking in the boat. I'll probably copycat you on the spider setup for the reels that's really cool, thanks again for all of the tips!!
