Cam Steady "POKEMON TRAINER RAP CYPHER" Red Moon Reaction

Alright, so Mat4yo's verse. "Ayo pass the mic to this Scrafty guy". Scrafty is a Pokemon, as well as a play on the word Crafty. "Bringing the action, scratching your static sprites" Alliteration using S, and gen 5 brought movement, or "action" to the previously stationary, or "static", sprites. "I am the mastermind behind black and white". Hilbert is in the Pokemon games Black and White, he also was chosen by the orb of the Pokemon game title. "Here to school you trainers who can't rap and write". This is a simple diss at the other trainers, but it also sets up the next line. "It's like I spit trouble, you spit Trubbish". Trubbish is literally a sentient garbage bag Pokemon. "When you hear that Klingklang better Ducklett". The Pokemon names make it sound like he's cocking the hammer of a gun, and thus, you should "Duck" out of the way. "I'm a hero to the people who need me". This is a call back to the fact that the character was chosen by the orb of the game they chose. "You're a zero, peace out like Victini". Victini in the regional dex is #0, #1 being a starter. Victini's sprite is also constantly holding up 2 fingers in the peace ✌️ sign. Victini also is a mythical, and thus hard to catch Pokemon. "Meet me in the city and I'll take you on a detour". Unova is based off of New York. These next 4 lines really build the world of this new never before seen Pokemon region. "Eating up the subway like it was a team sport." This further adds to the city feel. "Nothing but net like Durant in these streets". Again, world building, but Durant is a Bug type Pokemon, which Net Balls have a higher catch rate with. Also, Kevin Durant is a basketball player, "nothing but net" is a common basketball phrase. He also plays for an American basketball team called the "Brooklyn Nets", which is in New York. "You're never gonna need to wonder who spits Heat more". Heatmor is a Pokemon that has an intense hatred and rivalry with Durant. Also is a Fire type. "Now the king has returned to his castle". More with the "chosen one" lore. "Blood on my hands, not talking about Plasma". Team Plasma is the evil team in these games. "Gen 5 baby, good luck catching them all". Gen 5 was a pain in the ass to complete the Pokedex for, this also sets up the next, and last, line. "We leave them out like the laundry, high, dry, gone". Because of the effort needed to complete the Pokedex, it felt like the players were left high and dry. But he also used each syllable to allude to the Pokemon Hydreigon. God I love Mat4yo's verses.

Mcgwire had such a vibey and catchy verse but shwabadi and Hala really went hard with the punches. this might’ve been too 3 best cyphers of the year. Such a good beat and everyone flowing in the beat.

Okay, first off, Mat4yo spits, he can write line for line with Ty Wild and Connor Quest. Every line (more like word) he writes has a purpose. Cam did great as Red, highlighted how he was the first and contender for strongest cannon Pokemon trainer. Favorite line was "I carry tracks back when Wrap was spammed", because my god that move was broken. Zach did a very nice telling of Ethan's story, nothing really much more to say, it was just well done. Favorite line was "they only got half of my 16 badges", which is a line only Ethan can say. Chi-Chi killed it as May, the first really notable female character that was playable. May herself is very energetic and loud and proud. Favorite line is "Going harder than Archie's pecks", because it's a really funny line to hear sung so beautifully. Savvy as Dawn was a good choice. While May is loud and energetic, Dawn is quieter and more reserved. Favorite line was "Giratina 808's when I smash distortion", because the vocal effect was top notch. Mat4yo as Hilbert, this is gonna take a bit. There was so much packed in here, I'm gonna do a separate comment specifically for Mat4yo. But my favorite line was "We leave them out like the laundry, High, Dry, Gon", because it was a play on the Pokemon Hydreigon. Halacg as Rosa did wonderfully. Her rhyme scheme at the beginning was the same as the end of Mat4yo's verse, making them lead into each other perfectly. Favorite line was "Catching out cheats like a gal's playing Amoonguss", ..... SUS! Sailorurlove as Serena was perfect, since Serena is by far the most feminine female playable character as of yet. Favorite line was "Got my Absol ready, yeah we're bringing the doom", because Absol only appears when disaster is near. McGwire as Elio, nothing much to say other than this was an absolute bop! Favorite line was "No sash and you won't last", because the item Focus Sash causes you to live on 1 HP if and only if you were about to be one shot from full HP. McGwire saying that he is gonna one shot everyone. Shwabadi as Victor. The Brit raps as the Brit. Favorite line is "The Glock's hammer's locked I keep it stowed on side", because he referenced 2 town names in one line. Shofu as Ash. Shofu is a phenomenal rapper and made Ash seem a lot cooler than he actually is. Favorite line is "We be running up the show it's like I'm 40 years old", because I think that's how old the character has been airing for.

Mat4yo is one of those true cerebral rappers that attacks raps like math problems. He has a little promotional rap he did not long ago (after Sora was announced for Smash) where everything in the song had to rhyme with Super Smash Bros. I think he actually has a previous “Homophone Rap” where he does that, and is planning to do another one. Also, he and Cam Steady are BFFs. ~_~
