To connect the lead to the spool (bobine) it is best to use a clove hitch or constrictor. You can find both knots on the internet. Duct tape will leave glue on the spool making your next run more difficult to get of the spool. Enjoy.

Omit the tape and loop the leader which tightens and doesn't slip.

The bulky yarn is my main concern for rug making and gloves and hats, I do think with enough practice this wheel could spin worsted as well. At todays price 2020 it's 740.00 but when you break down the additional items you have to purchase to spin bulky yarn it's actually cheaper to buy the Country wheel.

make a loop of string for a leader. slip the loop through itself around the bobbin. and the you make it again with the same loop next to that slip knot. :) It should stay :)

I absolutely love my Country, but I could agree more with Marie. It you do not have help to put it together, it can be quite challenging. I got mine last November and my husband happened to be hurt (dog bite) from both hands. I had to put it together all by myself! I was ULTRA motivated, but even so it was difficult. So Ladies get help or gather a lot of energy. Despite that little detail.. it is a haven to spin novelty yarns. So my sore hands at the end.. were totally worth it :)

I have a question - there is no band that turns the flyer itself - what makes the flyer spin?

Hi!Camaj,your VDO so great!I'm looking for&studying about which type of spinner I should buy.I want not so expensive and can spin both thick&thin yarn or art yarn.I think the beginner one shouldn't worth the money for me.Or the beginner one can change to the bigger bobbin?Than k so much

I have this wheel and this vid helped a lot as I am struggling to get it working correctly. Or getting me to work correctly would be a more accurate way to phrase it. One of the biggest problems I have is the pedals are built way too close together. As a man I can't sit comfortably and treddle. I find myself having to kick one leg out of the contraption and try to run it with one foot. Is there an easy modification on this wheel to kick the pedals on either side of the wheel? Even if I could get one pedal on the side of the wheel it would help. I did not consider this when purchasing this wheel.

Orifice sits in the orifice well and the leather brake band goes over that orifice of the flyer.

Thank you for this video. I know it's 9 years old so I'm not too hopeful I'll get a reply, but I have to try because I'm at a complete loss after searching and searching. I have the Ashford Country Spinner 2 and I can't even get started because there is nothing anywhere that shows me how to attach the leader yarn. This wheel only has two hook and two... rings with squeeze clamps? I don't know how to properly attach the leader yarn. Through the rings and through the hooks? So confused. :(

Most wheels work basically the same. Ashford has a video spinning on an Ashford traditional. Also Maggie Casey has a set of DVDs with tons of information.

2 has grooves on the large drive wheel to further adjust ratios.

$550 is a lot for something that makes yarn, I plan on making mine from new wood and it should cost about $40. If I were to gather old wood from friends and neighbors I could probably do it for about $8 in hardware.
