Rhaenys was sent by Queen Rhaenyra to protect the people of Rooks Rest in this Battle. Just because Vhagar shows up to fight it doesn't mean the Battle is over. If Rhaenys had fled back to Dragonstone, running away from the Battle and Abandoning the people of Rooks Rest, Rhaenyra's claim would be viewed as weak. Like Queen Rhaenyra runs away when things get tough. That's the simple answer for Rhaenys's suicide mission. Put even simpler, there were still people to protect. The Queen 👑 Who *ALWAYS* Was 💔 ❤️

according to the writers: this scene and how it played out on the show was also inspired by fictional and real life female figures who have been passed over for things they have shown they are just as qualified for.. With Meleys the red queen was the fastest and battle hardened,d yet always overshadowed by the old queen herself Vhagar.. Vary similar with Rhaenys being passed over as the next ruler of the kingdom over her brother Visarys simply because shes a woman. Their bond between rider and dragon was strong.. She didn't need to say Dracarys for meleys to understand her task.. and they need only look at one another to understand what was needed to be done. The fact that Meleys knew turning around one last time would lead to their deaths, Rhaenys knew it too and they both decided., which was why she strapped herself in to her dragon.. ride or die till the end

@@Krobra91 One of the shows runners pointed out her turning back, tethering herself and pulling her belt tight showed how battle experienced she really was . She , and Meleys, knew going inverted at the last moment was the best way to attack a bigger opponent , go straight for the soft underbelly . A Mary Sue is a literally character who is inexplicitly good at eveything . Rhaenys was amazing and it was earned .

Cam's reaction pretty much mirrors Aegon's. Aegon didn't realize how brutal war with dragons is. He thought he'd ride in for an easy win. Things got real for him when his dragon started taking damage. Cam's reaction was perfect at that moment. Aegon was eager for some dragon action, but he wasn't expecting it to be like that.

rhaeneys attacked in the hopes of injuring vagar in hopes another black dragon can finish her off. (Meleys is one of the oldest and strongest dragons) or kill her or maybe kill aemond so vhagar would be riderless and out of the picture, she is more experienced at the end of the day Meleys was too injured to have made it very far & Rhaenys would have never abandoned Meleys even for the sake of her own safety. That last look they gave before turning back to fight Vhaegar again was a mutual acknowledgement they were going down together. Makes that whole moment that much more heartbreaking. Also abandoning their Ally wouldn't leave a good message about rhaneyras claim

Meleys was not injured, and Rhaenys didn’t necessarily need help to kill Vhagar. Meleys couldn’t one-shot kill Vhagar (but she probably would have two-shot killed Sunfyre if Aemond hadn’t shown up), and Vhagar can one-shot kill just about any other dragon except maybe one, but Vhagar has trouble landing that killing attack on a faster, far more agile dragon with an equally experienced rider. Rhaenys and Meleys came out ahead in the first 1v1 pass with Aemond and Vhagar: Rhaenys and Meleys were at most lightly injured, while Vhagar was heavily raked and hit the ground hard. Meleys needed probably two or maybe three more such passes to render Vhagar incapable of flying, but Rhaenys saw good (and steadily improving) chances of success before Vhagar could land her killing attack, so Rhaenys pressed her advantage and recommitted to the attack. Unfortunately, the old and crafty Vhagar found a useable ambush position and made the most of it. But Rhaenys was not suicidal, desperate or foolish. She was a brave and aggressive warrior.

"The Dance of Dragons" is not one episode--it's the dragon part of the civil war (what you been asking for: "More dragons"). After watching this, you will have seen the beginning of it but not the end. As you said, there's many more dragons (and human characters). And the part that's going to destroy us dragon lovers is that eventually there is a sort of "red wedding of dragons" incident. Maybe you don't want to watch that. Not sure I do. By the way, that's not really a spoiler. If you paid careful attention to "Game of Thrones" you know what I'm talking about.

He literally asks his mother this episode for guidance and she shuts him down like that, and as a result goes off the handles. Worst mother ever. Rhaenys took the chance that she could end aegon and aemond there and then. She knew this final turn around could end in her death but she was willing to roll the dice and went out like a dragonrider. RIP The Queen Who Should Have Been. Also a dragon as big as Vhagar should NOT be successfully pulling off these sneak attacks

Rhaenys Targaryen and her dragon Meleys not backing down and bravely facing Vhagar. Princess Rhaenys could have escaped Ifs he wanted to. Meleys is faster than Vhagar and Caraxes. Rhaenys chose to stay because she saw and she knew she had the chance to injure Vhagar and somewhat incapacitate her and Aemond to fight in the future even at the expense of her and Meleys life.

At least one other person from HOTD (a director, I think) has refuted the theory that the eggs Rhaena is carrying to the Eyrie will hatch into Daenerys' eggs. So...they could be, or Dany's eggs could be the three eggs stolen long ago by Elissa Farman and taken to Essos to be sold, or Dany's eggs could come from somewhere else.

Unfortunately, the death of Rhaenys got spoiled for me last week after watching a different content creator's review of Episode 3. I was so PISSED, because it really took down the shock value of seeing her die. Anyways, I knew your reaction would be a good one for this episode because of all the dragons. Just a note about the bald guy who Rhaenys approached and touched on the face down at the docks: it's a bastard son of her husband. That's why the guy hasn't received any glory or public word of thanks by Corlys--he was trying to hide the bastard from his wife. And I suspect the dude with the long (silver) dreads who talked to the bastard in last week's episode is another bastard of Corlys'.

It was a great plan until Aegon got involved, which influenced Aemond to hesitate cause the greedy bastard wanted a double kill for his K/D and effectively put Cole's army at risk. Sure, even in a situation where that didn't happen and Meyles could've still brought Vahgar down to the ground, Meyles would've never gotten the first shot off on Cole's army since the bigger threat is already up its ass.

Does anybody know whether this season encompasses the entire "Dance of the Dragons" (the civil war) or whether it will cut off before the dance is over and we'll have to wait for subsequent seasons to see how it all turns out? The show is titled "House of the Dragon" and the House goes on for many generations when the dance/war is over, so if we get to see the outcome of the war this season there would still be plenty of material for future seasons.
