Although first gear still messes with me, it's a pretty easy car to drive in manual. The downshifts definitely sound beautiful And the power is just crazy!! Take traction control off and then it'll slide right out under you with hardly any effort yet in still grips sooooo well. Awesome car. I love mine 2018

First, your into, hilarious. Second, you mentioned you shifted from 1st to 4th. Camaro manuals, to avoid the gas guzzler tax, has a shift lock out. Essentially, if you take off casual in first and try to short shift into 2nd, it locks it out and forces you into 4th. For “fuel mileage”. If you adjust your driving, it will fix or they do sell a mod that eliminates it. And thanks for the video, my 1LE is on order, arrives in October, so I’ve been getting my fix by watching every vid I can.

Its jerkin at a high rpm cuz your dumping the clutch while shifting in rapid succession. Aint gonna hurt it and you will get smoother over time as you get the rhythm and you two figure each other out 😊. I had trouble going into 5th too when I first started, I realized I had to mentally and intentionally think about going into 5th until I developed the muscle memory. You'll get it!
@KickinItWithQ2 жыл бұрын
Preciate that insight and feedback man Ahhh so don’t dump it?
@smittygt80582 жыл бұрын
@@KickinItWithQ u can dump it but its gonna jerk each time as the clutch makes contact with the fly wheel, honestly that's kinda why manuals are awesome and you get that raw feeling. However, remember slow is smooth smooth is fast. Try shifting (a little) slower at high rpm, eventually you will learn the clutch grab point and also the rate of fall with the rpms, over time you will be able to match them seemlessly, just like how well u are doing already with your down shifts! Down shifting was actually harder for me to learn and u got that down already.
@KickinItWithQ2 жыл бұрын
@@smittygt8058 ahhh gotcha! Preciate the info. The car has rev matching on downshift so it don’t heel toe at all. Computer matches revs for me lol😅
@WHERESSS Жыл бұрын
lol there is no waiting for rpms to drop when you're going all out. Just dump the clutch and gun it. You're shocking and wearing the drivetrain, but its also jerking the car forward, which is faster. These Tremec units are robust, no need to worry about wear. They built-in flat foot shifting.

The way I shift, 1st and 2nd pull towards me. 3rd I push up easy because the shifter automatic goes to the middle with neutral and 3rd is in the middle. 4th I just pull back easy keeping the shifter in the middle. 5th push up and away from me. It will come the more you drive. To make it smoother I will give it more gas to match your speed. You need to try driving an eighteen wheeler with 18 speed that will really get you better.

I just picked up a 2023 2SS 1LE three days ago. Mine came in Red Hot. I'm sure by now you've mastered the manual transmission. After a little bit, you really don't even think about shifting. As for accidentally shifting into reverse instead of 5th, I'm about 99 percent sure our Camaros have a reverse lockout that makes it all but impossible to select Reverse until the car is almost stopped. Let's just say that in all my years of driving a manual, I've never done it.

@benperiod Жыл бұрын
I think this is a year llate but: the reason the car "jerks" when you up shift really quickly is because the engine doesn't have enough time for the revs to drop to match the speed of the transmission with the speed of the driveshaft. you'll notice it more severely when you shift from 1st to 2nd, because the revs are dropping significantly more. ie when you shift from 1st to 2nd at 40 mph, your revs might drop from 6k to 3k, but if you shift from 4th to 5th, the revs might drop from 6k to 5k.... less of a drop, takes less time, so the shift feels "smoother" if you're doing it quickly. keep an eye on your tachometer when you shift, you'll see the rpms lower slowly, but jerk down when you engage the next gear. sick car!

Just throw it diagonal movement. Be deliberate but light with your hand. The internals will move in their own way. Don’t over think it. It’s a flick if the wrist. Or you can be more mechanical about it. Make 90 degree movements right then up. Keep rev matching turned on. I feel you. I remember it being tricky at first.

It's not all u shifting. Torque management messes with the car and pulls timing when clutch is being let out. I don't know how much it does this on a stock car but I noticed this a lot on my modified car until I changed the virtual torque tables. It helped a ton smoothing shifts out.
