I ran a formula 1 tint shop in the 90’s before I moved on to flat glass. We used to form two football shapes and shrink it from there. One slow winter day we figured out the technique that you display here. Very cool!

Nice job ! I know doing it in 2 pieces makes it easier. Did the small 2nd piece over the dot matrix create less fingers? I can't get a shop to take the job scared to put there shop name on the job results .

The vinyl I used on the dot matrix did not create any fingers at all. But even if it did make fingers you can simply squeegee it out with out a heat gun. As apposed to tint where you need heat to squeegee the fingers out

Yes I've done many of them. I usually do the Frankenstein method. It's tight but you have to conture your body a little bit. Lol Next time one comes in I'll record a video.

I’ve been wanting to get my 02’ Camaro tinted but don’t want to cough up the money to have someone else do it. I have no experience in tinting whatsoever… with that being said, should I just wait to have a professional do it or could I get by from watching KZbin videos? Thanks

This window is not easy. I've seen ppl that been tinting for a long time still struggle with this window. If you have no experience at all and you only what to do your camaro then your better off having a shop do it. The amount of time and money that your gonna waste is not gonna be worth it. If you plan on getting Into the tint business then yes watch some videos to learn the process. Repetition is key. Window tint is something you need to do hand's on so you can see how the film reacts on the glass.

Nice. Just had mine done. They didn’t want to do the dot matrix bc I think they were stressed by the removal of the old tint and just wanted it gone. Where’d you get the vinyl strip?

The vynil is avery gloss black wrap. I had some left over from a wrap but tintdepot.com has dot matrix vinyl too. This car had old tint too with the vynil but I didn't record the removal process. I Normally tint this car with out vinil but since it had it before the costumer wanted it to look the same

@@THATMOFODIRT if you see close towards the end after I finish applying the vynil the dots still look white. The vynil will make the dots look uniform and no uneven blochyness. If you don't mind the whiteish dots then vynil is fine. If the white is gonna bother you then painting it would be best.

Just scrub the dot matric with 000 grade steel wool and it will stick ,been doing it since the 90s.

I did the back window only for $150 with regular tint. Every city is different but i seen shop quotes between $100 up to $250 alone for this window
