just installed new screen the same place you have yours, it looks great but tell me I have the power cable with plug on it for power hook up but its a pain in the ass. where is your power coming from?
@sboston44 жыл бұрын
Steve I ran the power all the way to the fuse box under the hood.

So... I have an Idea here. I have the unlimited Wifi hotspot in my camaro... Im curious if there are wireless cams that would work like this through my cars wifi network.. then all I would have to do is run the wiring from the front down to the camera without having to run anything into the car. Power source for the display I could always power with the usb outlets or something. Idk thinking outloud here.
@sboston44 жыл бұрын
I bet there is a product out there and grabbing power for the camera can easily be done by running the power to an add a fuse style power connector to the fuse box under the hood and there is a solid grounding lug right next to that. I like your idea.

where did you fish the wire thru the firewall at. I have the same type camera Im installing this weekend in a 2018 Camaro SS
@sboston45 жыл бұрын
Steve I thought the firewall was the best place to fish a wire through as well but it’s not. If you look between the door hinges, there are pre-drilled and plugged with rubber / plastic plugs. I ran the wires up the top of the passenger side fender and then down to that hole. I also used some flexible black wire conduit to run the wires throughout the engine bay and into the interior. Good luck with your project.

where did you find a screen that would fit in that space?
@sboston44 жыл бұрын
Steve try something like this. The one I used shows to no longer be available but this one looks close to the same. Amazon.com: 3.5'' Inch TFT LCD Car Color Rear View Monitor Screen for Parking Rear View Backup Camera With 2 Optional Bracket: Automotive
@glasser6204 жыл бұрын
did you add those hinges on the bottom and could you give me the dimensions of the monitor ? Thanks
@sboston44 жыл бұрын
Steve the screen is 3-3/4” wide and 3” tall. I used some small hinges from the hardware store and double sided automotive tape to stick to the hinges, bottom of the screen and top of the dash bezel. I hope this info helps.
@glasser6204 жыл бұрын
Yes it does, just one more question where did you get the power from? I installed one but yours is alot better looking.
@sboston44 жыл бұрын
The power is running from a wire that goes to the fuse box under the hood. I ran the wire through the bottom of the dash to the passenger side and then through a plugged hole that is in the door jam / A Pillar. Make sure you run your wires in some flexible conduit out that hole and up and through the right fender.

This is the one I used and Amazon says that it’s not currently available but there are a bunch of these small screens out there so I’m sure you could find something similar that would work.
