If you've always wanted to learn. Why are you watching a first forward that shows nothing? Better off reading a book

SUPER video! Thanks. Loved your comment, actually stopped the video to take a picture... "Surgically Clean" I'm going to weld up your 'Archimedes lever'- beats chasing yer tail around the bench.

Hi Rick, I just saw your P 74 vet differential rebuilt in nine minutes. Amazing you truly are a master mechanic. Question; I have a 69 Corvette and just paid $6500 for a guy to rebuild the diff bearing hubs and training arms. I’m getting bearing noise from the rear and I noticed the diff has play on both sides. The bearings have very little to no play and the only plan I’m finding is at the differential where the half shafts connect. Is that normal?

Excellent video! Couple of thoughts - the holes for the ARP bolts need to be chamfered because of the radius on the ARP bolts - I see you did that but didn't see it mentioned. I saw a tip to run a flat stone around the ring gear mating surface of the carrier to knock down any high spots around the bolt holes to avoid ring gear runout.

Great video as usual. And as usual I wish there was a version in normal speed!! One question, will a 8.5 inch gear fit in the Corvette case?
@CamaroRick4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Ill make a not of that. As far as differentials Im not aware of any "kits" that are larger than factory. Mainly its the launches and dead hooking that would hurt it. Its decently stout for a factory IRS. The drag guys do a custom fit solid rear axle swap

i agree normal speed and some narration@@CamaroRick

Recommended case spreader? All the ones I see online say that they won't work on a Corvette case.

You don’t need one just don’t put too much preload in the shims. You’ll have to move the races around a little bit

when u say " snap ring sharp edge facing in", do you mean in toward diff unit or in toward yoke????????
@CamaroRick2 жыл бұрын
Towards the diff. The sharper edge has more surface area to hold it in from the pulling force when the suspension is unloaded

Is there an actual book on these, I have one on the bench now.

I mostly use autoshop software for my info but there are assembly manuals available for the original specifics.
