Todos los miércoles y sábados en la Puerta del Príncipe del Palacio Real se celebra el relevo de la Guardia Real, en la que participan catorce miembros y cuatro caballos.
Los centinelas de palacio (dos a pie y dos a caballo) vestidos con uniformes de gala similares a los utilizados en tiempos de Alfonso XIII, realizan un relevo cada 30 minutos, acompañados por un pífano (flautín de tono muy agudo usado en las bandas militares) y un tambor, siguiendo las órdenes y voces reglamentarias. Además, cada 10 minutos los centinelas a caballo se desplazan delante de la fachada.
In front of the Puerta del Príncipe of the Royal Palace of Madrid, every Wednesday and Saturday, four members of the Royal Guard are relieved of their positions: two-foot soldiers and two soldiers on horseback dressed in their gala uniforms which are similar to those used by the Spanish Army during the reign of Alfonso XIII. In total fourteen members and four horses participate.
The soldiers march to the beat of a fife (a very high-pitched piccolo used in military bands) and a drum, following official orders and commands. Every 10 minutes, the soldiers on horseback march past the front of the palace.
Horarios:
Todos los miércoles y sábados de 11:00 a 14:00 h (excepto los días en los que se celebre algún acto oficial o las condiciones meteorológicas lo impidan). Julio y agosto: de 10:00 a 12:00 h
Times:
Every Wednesday and Saturday from 11am to 2pm (except on days an official event is held or the weather conditions prevent it). July and August: from 10am to 12 noon.
